The third season of Bel-Air sees the apparent sudden death of Lamarcus Alton (Justin Cornwell) on his honeymoon with Hilary Banks (Coco Jones). While his death creates a moment of suspense and some viewers still question whether he is actually dead, his middle name is a clue enough to his fate. Peacock's Bel-Air offers a modern re-imagining of the beloved 1990s sitcom, which launched the career of young Will Smith. While the show maintains the exploration of racial and socioeconomic issues of its predecessor, it places its characters in a very different American climate.
However, Bel-Air features many callbacks to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; among the many Easter eggs from Fresh Prince present, one of them sadly foreshadows the season 3 finale's tragic death. In the original Fresh Prince, Hilary's boyfriend Trevor also dies, but in a bungee jumping accident. Given that Bel Air is a modern interpretation that follows several of the original show's storylines, it would only make sense for this to be included in some form.
Lamarcus' Middle Name Being Revealed As Trevor Confirmed He's Dead In Bel-Air's Season 3 Finale
Lamarcus Suffered The Same Fate As Hilary's Boyfriend In Fresh Prince
In Bel Air's modern retelling, Hilary's love interest is NFL player Lamarcus. Prior to his shocking death, Lamarcus is a career-oriented athlete who previously dated Hilary. Hilary reveals that they broke up so she could pursue her aspirations, and after some sparring, the couple rekindle their relationship. Despite theories to the contrary, the revelation that Lamarcus' middle name is Trevor in Bel-Air season 1 only now proves that Lamarcus is actually dead, as it mirrors Trevor's story from Fresh Prince decades ago.

I Know Exactly When Will Smith Should Appear In Bel-Air
Since its premiere in 2022, many have wondered whether Will Smith will make a cameo in Bel-Air, but I know the perfect way to include the OG actor.
In Fresh Prince, Trevor is a news anchor, and he proposes to Hilary live on-air while bungee jumping. He then tragically dies in a bungee jumping accident, leaving a young Hilary to cope with her grief. Both Lamarcus and Trevor have successful careers and relationships that were cut short by apparent accidents. Although it is tragic, Lamarcus' death is a fitting homage to Bel Air's source material.
What Lamarcus Repeating Trevor's Death Means For Hilary In Bel-Air Season 4
Hilary Will Explore Her Grief After Lamarcus' Death
Fresh Prince once saw Hilary working through her grief with a therapist. In the decades since the original show, therapy has become a far more widely accepted method of healing trauma. Bel-Air season 4 could see Hilary trying varying types of therapy to work through her feelings of shock and grief.
However, outside of her healing journey, Hilary has always been an independent woman.
As the Banks family is incredibly wealthy, Hilary will have access to any type of therapy she may need. However, outside of her healing journey, Hilary has always been an independent woman. Lamarcus was a great partner and her other half, but Hilary will likely now explore her independence in the absence of a partner in Bel Air season 4.

A gritty and more grounded reimagining of the '90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bel-Air stars Jabari Banks as Will Smith. After falling afoul of a drug lord and his gang in his native West Philadelphia, Will Smith moves to a gated community in Bel-Air with his wealthy Aunt Vivian (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes). Not only must Will adjust to his new environment, but he's also forced to deal with his past in order to embrace his future.
