Production on the fourth and final season of Netflix's urged ongoing productions to shut down for the next few weeks due to the recent surge in cases. Warner Bros. TV, CBS Studios, Universal TV, Sony Pictures TV, and Disney TV Studios’ ABC Signature and 20th Television were among the studios that halted productions on their LA-based shows.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate Television has now delayed production on the fourth and final season of the Netflix series Dear White People and the new Starz series Blindspotting. Based on the 2018 film of the same name, Blindspotting filming is currently delayed for two weeks, while production on Dear White People has been pushed back by eight days. Deadline reports that the studio is monitoring the situation closely, while future production delays could still happen.
Production on the final season of Dear White People was previously halted back in November when plans to be on hiatus until between January 11-18.
Just yesterday, SAG-AFTRA and the Producers Guild encouraged temporary shutdowns of on-set television commercial productions in Southern California due to the high number of cases. Hopefully, the shutdowns on Dear White People, Blindspotting, and other productions will not last long, but it is probably what's best for right now.
