Moon Knight has had his fair share of personas throughout the years. One of the breakout hits among comic book fans was the appearance of the charismatic Mr. Knight, a surprisingly more suave version of the beloved moonlit crusader.
Unlike his more "traditional" caped persona, Mr. Knight is a completely different vigilante altogether. From his dapper white suit to his ultra-cool attitude, Mr. Knight is beloved by fans for the complexities he lends to the character of Moon Knight. Viewers can only hope the series continues to do Mr. Knight justice, as he's a highlight in the comics.
Slick and Stylish
The most obvious change with the Mr. Knight persona is how stylish he looks. Sure, there's no denying the traditional Moon Knight garb is cool in its own right. That being said, Mr. Knight manages to be a vigilante fashion icon all on his own.
Mr. Knight wears a perfectly tailored white suit, white gloves, and white everything. Of course, he still hides his face with a mask. Strikingly, the mask has a very clear crescent moon symbol on the forehead. In many cultures, the crescent moon represents wisdom and the psyche.
Shockingly Nice
Moon Knight is anti-social, barely tolerable, and brutally dangerous at his worst moments. In contrast, Mr. Knight is affable to his co-workers, comforting to victims of crimes, and is overall a much more positive member of society. Mr. Knight purposefully builds an air of trust and comion around himself.
Whereas Moon Knight treats his nightly missions as a glorious crusade to punish evil, Mr. Knight is a lot more pragmatic and reasonable about it. Yes, Mr. Knight is still a powerful Marvel vigilante, but he's a vigilante with some class!
A Calm Crusader
Mr. Knight holds no illusions about the state of his mind. At any given moment, he might have to change to "the other guy", and there's no telling if it will be consensual or not. That being said, Mr. Knight is much more relaxed about the whole thing than any other persona.
Mr. Knight knows exactly what he's doing. He has no illusions about the nature of his work, and he even its to enjoying it. No tortured monologues. No denial. When asked why he wears white, he answers with unflinching frankness.
Prefers a Pair of Batons
Moon Knight has an impressive arsenal of weaponry that he uses on his nightly patrols. From the classic crescent darts to the unorthodox crescent dart pistol, Moon Knight makes good use of the absurdly rich Steven Grant's wealth to milk the moon theme as much as possible.
Mr. Knight, as established, is a lot more pragmatic and prefers to use a pair of batons. Oftentimes, that's all he needs for the investigations he does. Not to mention, batons are a lot less lethal than his usual arsenal, which is important for his broader characterization.
Not as Ruthless
It's worth noting that Mr. Knight "not being as ruthless" as someone like Moon Knight is still a scary thing. Mr. Knight will do what he believes is necessary to stop evil. Unlike Moon Knight, however, he's a lot more concerned about the civilians around him.
Mr. Knight can actually talk to other people, which means he's much more likely to settle things diplomatically. Moon Knight is a lot more stand-offish, and more importantly, Moon Knight is notoriously one of Marvel's most violent heroes, he's particularly ed for brutally cutting off a guy's face once. That makes anything else look not as terrifying.
Actually Works With Police
One of the most important differences between Mr. Knight and Moon Knight (at least functionally) is that Mr. Knight works with the police. Due to Moon Knight's many, many crimes, Mr. Knight was born to act as a way to work with the authorities without immediately being arrested.
Mr. Knight closely works with policemen and styles himself as a "concerned citizen". Being as affable and not outwardly violent (in front of the cops at least), Mr. Knight actually gets a lot of work done that Moon Knight can't by himself.
A Fantastic Detective
Mr. Knight is a send-up to one of Steve Ditko's classic characters, "Mr. A". That character was also the inspiration for Steve Ditko's more famous detective, The Question. So obviously, Mr. Knight was going to inherit some hardboiled detective skills for solving crimes on the streets.
People usually don't this, but Moon Knight is surprisingly intelligent. It's as Mr. Knight, however, that he can use his intelligence to the fullest. Much like a former Moon Knight villain, "The Profile," Mr. Knight seemingly has a "Sherlock Scan" ability of his own as well.
Started the Midnight Mission
During the absence of Khonshu, Mr. Knight still wanted to continue his former master's mission of protecting night travelers. To this end, he decided to start the Midnight Mission, which is pretty much Moon Knight's own version of "Heroes for Hire". Unlike those guys though, Moon Knight does so free of charge.
The Midnight Mission was a fantastic way to show that Moon Knight, whether or not Khonshu tells him, will protect the innocent from the terrors of the night. Moon Knight is still an agent of justice, and Mr. Knight is more than happy to oblige his wishes.
