Set 16 years after the base game’s story, Resident Evil is known for having difficult puzzles throughout the franchise, it’s no surprise that the Shadows of Rose DLC follows this trend.
Starting when Rose cuts open the stuffed animal in the workshop of House Beneviento to retrieve the Relief of a Child. The doll puzzle requires the player to use dolls located around the area to complete a diorama with the instruction, “light the campfire,” to acquire the breaker box key. Players must first find the dolls scattered throughout other dioramas, then place them correctly to finish the puzzle and move forward. Finding some of Donna Beneviento’s dolls and knowing the correct order and locations in Resident Evil Village to place them can be quite tricky without outside assistance.
Solving The Doll Puzzle in Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose
After getting the Relief of a Child, the room will go dark. Once the lights come back up, players should go left to retrieve the doll labeled “Lucy” on the table. The Relief Door, located through the double doors, can be opened using the Relief of a Child. Inside this storage room is the Birthday Diorama, with the Catherine doll inside. Going back into the workshop and entering the room on the medicine room on the left, players will find the Toilet Diorama. Placing the Lucy doll on the left platform and the Catherine doll on the right platform will complete this scene and open a drawer containing a key. The red door labeled “Jimmy’s Room” can now be opened, and the well inside can be entered using Rose’s powers in RE Village.
At the bottom of the well, Rose will find another doll, this time unlabeled. Once this doll, presumably Jimmy, has been picked up, the Birthday Diorama found in the storage room can be completed. Lucy should be placed on the ladder, Catherine should go off to the right, and the doll just picked up should go near the middle, next to the present. This will open up another drawer containing a second unnamed doll with black hair.
Back in the workshop, players should return to the Campfire Diorama to arrange the dolls. Lucy and Catherine can go on their labeled platforms, while Jimmy should be placed opposite Catherine, holding a torch. The final spot on the right is reserved for the Black-Haired Doll. Once the dolls are placed, this diorama will be completed, and the doll representing Resident Evil Village DLC’s leading character Rose will burn.
A key to the Breaker Box will appear after the smoke clears from the Rose doll’s ashes. Players can take the key, complete the doll puzzle, and continue through the rest of the Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose DLC.
