Dragon Ball Z remains one of the most beloved and acclaimed animes of all time. Goku's journey into adulthood, accompanied by an ever-expanding group of ing characters, friends and foes alike, is as compelling today as it was when it first came out thirty-three years ago.
Z's characters are larger-than-life, a dynamic group with unique personalities. Should they ever find themselves at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat would have no trouble placing them in one of the four Houses. Some choices would be no-brainers, although the Hat would have to spend some time deliberating with a few characters.
Bulma - Ravenclaw
Bulma is the franchise's first female lead, acting as the straight woman in the original Dragon Ball anime. She later evolves into a mature businesswoman and the inventor behind some of the series' most unique gadgets.
Bulma is a fan favorite and arguably Dragon Ball. She creates two of the franchise's crucial artifacts, the Dragon Radar and the time machine that sends Trunks back into the past. Bulma's endless intelligence would make her the ideal Ravenclaw. Her individuality, confidence in her abilities, and innate curiosity make her the poster child for the house of the raven.
Good Buu - Hufflepuff
Starting as the bad guy, Innocent Buu soon turns a new leaf thanks to the positive influence of a clumsy and dim-witted man and a cute dog. After he rids himself of his bad side, Innocent Buu becomes a part of the Z Fighters, famous for his voracious appetite and aloof behavior.
Because he's pure and unadulterated innocence, Buu would be perfect for Hufflepuff. He's kind and selfless, willing to sacrifice himself for those he loves. He's also loyal, and while patience isn't his strong suit, he'd still make Hufflepuff House proud.
Kid Buu - Slytherin
Kid Buu is Majin Buu's true form of absolute evil. He is vicious and bloodthirsty, Dragon Ball and one of the franchise's most emblematic villains. Buu is also surprisingly funny, even in his mostly stoic kid form.
The Harry Potter franchise clearly makes Slytherin the "evil wizard" house, so it makes sense that Kid Buu would belong there. Beyond his status as a villain, Kid Buu also shows many Slytherin traits, like selfishness, excessive ambition, and a "the end justifies the means" mindset.
Mr. Satan - Hufflepuff
Debuting during the Cell saga, Hercule Satan is the World Martial Art's Champion and its de-facto protector. Satan acts like an egotistical and overconfident hero, but he is really a cowardly and highly insecure man, desperately trying to cling to his reputation.
Although the show mainly treats him as a joke, Mr. Satan proves his worth countless times. He may be a poser and a fame-seeking cheat, but Satan is also remarkably brave, comionate, and loyal. He may never be one of the most powerful of Hufflepuff, but he would undoubtedly be a worthy representative of the badger's house.
Krillin - Gryffindor
As far as humans go, Krillin is the strongest. He is Goku's childhood friend who's a constant in the hero's adventures, always willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of his friend. He eventually gets married to the reformed Android 18, forming Dragon Ball.
Krillin might be the bravest character in the series. He constantly faces threats considerably out of his league, but he never stops fighting; however, he's still clever enough to recognize when the fight is above his abilities. Thanks to his courage and chivalry, Krillin would be a worthy member of Gryffindor, where he would quickly become popular.
Piccolo - Slytherin
Piccolo, the stoic and analytical Namekian who goes from deadly foe to invaluable ally, is one of the franchise's most layered and beloved characters. A surrogate father for multiple characters, most notably Gohan, Piccolo often acts as the wise mentor who helps others train to reach their full potential.
Thanks to his willingness to sacrifice anything for the greater good, Piccolo would be perfect for Slytherin. He has their trademark resourcefulness, which allows him to make the most difficult decisions, even in the presence of certain danger. Like the most heroic of Slytherins, Piccolo is brave, but his courage never clouds his judgment.
Future Trunks - Gryffindor
Future Trunks is the protagonist of some of Dragon Ball's most memorable episodes. A mysterious and knowledgeable warrior with too many secrets, Trunks is a quiet and gentle young man who becomes a fearsome warrior on the battlefield. His tragic backstory soon becomes apparent, and he becomes one of the bravest and most valuable of the Z Fighters.
Trunks has some Slytherin qualities, but he is ultimately a Gryffindor at heart. He is courageous and loyal to a fault, willing to sacrifice everything to save those he loves. He also holds several regrets he's trying to atone for, which explains his willingness to jump into danger.
Gohan - Ravenclaw
From childhood, Gohan showed a profound sense of duty. As he grows up, and thanks in large part to his mother's influence, he begins showing a thirst for knowledge that soon becomes his trademark. However, Gohan's curiosity isn't only about academics; indeed, he is still an avid fighter eager to become more powerful during his teen years. Dragon Ball abandoned his storyline after the Buu saga, cementing him as a scholar rather than a warrior.
Gohan is the ideal Ravenclaw. He is not only very intelligent but also fiercely independent. His overconfidence during his time as Ultimate Gohan also shows a somewhat arrogant side to his personality, making him feel right at home at Ravenclaw.
Vegeta - Slytherin
The proud Prince of Saiyans is one of the most beloved and acclaimed characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. Vegeta is the walking embodiment of an antihero, a man who starts as a savage and merciless conqueror before becoming a more selfless and even inspiring figure to those around him.
Vegeta is a Slytherin to the tee. He is ambitious, resourceful, selfish, and cold. He has a strategic mind, which, coupled with his innate instincts and natural fighting talents, makes him excel in battle. The house of the serpent would be lucky to have him in its ranks, and Vegeta would fit right in with all the other snobbish and ambitious Slytherins.
Goku - Gryffindor
Arguably the best animated himbo in the medium's history, Goku is the kind, child-like protagonist of the Dragon Ball anime. As the most powerful character in his universe, Goku often saves the world from the ever-constant threats that menace his tranquility.
Hotheaded and impatient, Goku is the prototypical Gryffindor. He is brave, impulsive, somewhat reckless, and fiercely loyal. He rarely thinks about the consequences and acts out of instinct and an inexhaustible sense of duty. Goku is the ultimate hero, a fighter who's as selfless as he is mighty, so his place among the house of fold and scarlet is all but certain.
