  • Fans are still bitter about the unfinished Crystal Crisis on Utapau arc and the jam-packed emotional journey of Ahsoka Tano's return to the Jedi Temple.

Star Wars movies and TV shows. A sixth season consisting of the remaining finished episodes was released on Netflix in 2014, and The Clone Wars was eventually revived for a seventh and final season on Disney+. Despite receiving these additional episodes, several more arcs were planned but never had the chance to air.

Some of these arcs were told through other mediums as part of The Clone Wars Legacy project, which adapted unfinished episodes as books, comics, and story reels. More arcs only had their basic plots made public, leaving Star Wars fans to speculate on what they would have looked like as finished Clone Wars episodes. These nine arcs offer a fascinating glimpse at The Clone Wars had it not been canceled, but some of these stories are better ideas than others.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episodes In Chronological Order (Correct Watch Order)

With Star Wars: The Clone Wars being released non-chronologically, you need the correct viewing order to make sense of its different plotlines.

9 Yuuzhan Vong

A warrior race scouts the galaxy for an invasion

The Yuuzhan Vong were introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity and nearly appeared in a Clone Wars arc that never went into production. The story would have involved a Vong scout ship arriving from another galaxy, played out like an alien abduction story. Unlike Legends, the Vong would not have been immune to the Force, a change requested by Star Wars creator George Lucas, as this contradicted his view of the Force. While this story would be interesting, especially with the horror elements, the Vong staying in Legends may have been for the best.

The Yuuzhan Vong are the main villains of the Legends book series Star Wars: The New Jedi Order, published by Del Rey.

8 Return To Mon Cala

Pé attempts to vote Palpatine out of office

Mon Calamari

This arc was set to have Pé Amidala oppose Chancellor Palpatine staying in office past his term, taking her to Mon Cala to ask King Lee-Char for in voting out the secret Sith Lord. The story would have seen the Quarren chieftain murdered, Pé's hope for dashed, and Quarren Senator Tikkes revealed as a Separatist. This would have been an intriguing political arc, following Pé's Clone Wars story and adapting elements of her deleted subplot in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

7 Rex And R2-D2

Top Gun with clones

Captain Rex sentencing Pong Krell to death in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Despite their attachments to both Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, there are few interactions between Captain Rex and R2-D2 in The Clone Wars. This was set to change in this four-episode arc, having the two stranded together on one of Ryloth's moons. Rex would also have grown attached to a reprogrammed B2 battle droid that would likely have produced some funny lines. Dave Filoni described this arc as "Top Gun with clones... where Rex ended up having to fly a fighter with R2 as his copilot."

6 Kashyyyk

Return of the Bad Batch

Wookiees in Star Wars The Bad Batch

While the canceled Bad Batch arc was eventually finished for The Clone Wars season 7, another Bad Batch story in development would have seen the group Yoda on Kashyyyk. The arc was set to involve Tarfful, Chewbacca, and Echo working with the Bad Batch after his rescue in the previous arc. The Wookiee would also have communed with sacred trees and battled their bitter Trandoshan rivals, with references to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special thrown in.

5 Bounty Hunter Arc

Boba Fett vs. Cad Bane

Boba Fett's helmet is dented in unused animatic from Clone Wars.

One of the highlights of The Book of Boba Fett was seeing the iconic titular character finally face off against Cad Bane after an unfinished Clone Wars arc left fans itching for more. This arc would have seen the two team up to rescue a child abducted by the Tusken Raiders on Tatooine, ending with a shootout where Boba receives the dent on his helmet. This arc would have concluded Boba's growth from a young boy to a ruthless mercenary while diving into the history of Cad Bane's rivalry with Jango Fett.

4 Return To The Jedi Temple

Ahsoka Tano vs. Darth Sidious

Ahsoka vs Sidious

The "Ahsoka's Walkabout" arc was also adapted in The Clone Wars season 7, but what did not make it to the screen was her return to the Jedi Temple. Much of the arc would have focused on Ahsoka, who would discover a threat in the Coruscant underworld and go to warn the Jedi, leading her on a rescue mission with Anakin and Obi-Wan to save Yoda from the Sith Shrine, all while stopping Palpatine from infiltrating the Holocron Vault. This arc would have been jam-packed with emotional moments and interesting lore for fans to dig their teeth into and could have been one of the show's most memorable stories.

3 Crystal Crisis On Utapau

Obi-Wan and Anakin steal a giant kyber crystal

One arc that found its way onto the official Star Wars website and The Clone Wars season 6 Blu-ray was the unfinished Crystal Crisis on Utapau story reel, centered around Anakin and Obi-Wan's investigation into the death of Jedi Master Tu-Ahn. General Grievous would have sought a giant kyber crystal, much like the ones that powered the Death Star. The arc is terrific, not just for its action but for its insight into Anakin's psyche after losing Ahsoka. Emotionally powerful and typically funny, thanks to Obi-Wan and Anakin, this is a story arc that fans are still bitter about never seeing finished.

2 Son Of Dathomir

Darth Maul goes to war with his former master

Darth Maul's canceled season 6 arc was adapted into the comic series Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son Of Dathomir by Jeremy Barlow. Set between the shadow conspiracy arc in season 5 and the adored ending of season 7, this would have made for a fantastic second entry to Maul's trilogy. Maul and his Mandalorians would have faced off with Count Dooku, Grievous, and even Sidious. With a prison breakout and more Dathomir action, Son of Dathomir makes for some thrilling pre-Siege of Mandalore reading and would have been a fantastic watch.

1 Dark Disciple

Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos vs. Count Dooku

Star Wars Dark Disciple

Before it was adapted into the novel Star Wars: Dark Disciple by Christie Golden, the 'Dark Disciple' arc was set to be the longest and grandest of The Clone Wars, spanning eight episodes and chronicling one of the show's most emotional storylines.

The arc would have followed Asajj Ventress teaming up with Quinlan Vos on a mission to take out Count Dooku. The story has iconic characters, romance, twists, tragedy, and action, and would undoubtedly have been one of the best arcs of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
