A new teaser just proved that Fate/strange Fake is a vast tale woven by mastermind Ryogo Narita, whose city-slicking sensibilities also brought about Baccano! and Durarara!!.

The series has one of the most intriguing origin stories of any Fate media, originally being an elaborate April Fool's joke which blossomed into a full-light novel series. Published by TYPE-MOON, the fanbase considered Fate/Strange fake as canonical as any other entry in the series. The follow-up will be the first Fate anime in a while to fully feature the universe's violent brand of political intrigue, so fans have been impatiently waiting for more information. Now, a new teaser has brought the unique series to life.

New Teaser for Fate/Strange Fake Shows Exactly What Fans Have Been Waiting For

New Episode of Fate/Strange Fake Is Confirmed For 2025

The massive update comes by way of the Fate/strange Fake English anime on X. The tweet promises the second episode of Fate/strange Fake will be available on Crunchyroll in 2025, reading as follows:

This follows Crunchyroll's free streaming of the first episode of Fate/strange Fake on YouTube back in November 2024. The teaser can also be found on Aniplex's Japanese YouTube channel, embedded above. The animation is top-notch, as could be expected. The teaser also shows the unique appeal of Fate/strange Fake, with a beautiful setting that clearly takes its cues from the urban milieu within which Ryoga Narita has made himself famous. Everything that makes the light novel series a novel take on the Fate universe is there too, with mainstays like the Holy Grail Wars front and center in the trailer.

Fate/strange Fake Will Be an Exciting and Much-Needed Update

The Fate Universe Needs Fate/strange Fake Urgently

Fate/strange Fake's full adaptation has been promised by Crunchyroll since at least September 2024. Its first episode was initially released as an OVA entitled Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn-, which was met with massive acclaim. The positive response and the clearly present market made it inevitable that the series would eventually be fully expanded. Fans who have had their hopes up for a seasonal release might be disappointed, as it seems for now that fans can expect individual releases of episodes.

Now, the promised expansion is drawing nearer—although details remain sparse on the precise release date beyond 2025. While curious fans will be tempted to dive right into Fate/strange Fake, it's important to that the series depends on concepts and timelines developed in other TYPE-MOON media like Fate/stay night and Fate Zero. Although Fate/strange Fake isn't going to prove a perfect introduction to the series for new fans, for existing fans, the new teaser illustrates that it will be the series they've been hoping for.
