One of the reasons that the Final Fantasy franchise is so well-loved by longtime fans and newcomers alike is due to its unique character creation. When each new game is started, players are greeted with the faces and voices of characters who amplify traits of strength, determination, fearlessness, as well as human elements like weakness, sarcasm, and fallibility. All of these human qualities are what make the games so down-to-earth despite the fact that things like airships, elemental powers, and plots to take over the world are part of the storyline.
Everyone has had at least one moment when they saw a bit of themselves in a character, and that's why the love for the series continues to grow to this day. If we see ourselves in a certain character, that has to mean something , right?
Final Fantasy IX: Vivi
Vivi is a bit of a contradiction; while he was originally created for warfare, the kindness of his adoptive parent prevented him from being brainwashed and trained like the other black mages. Those who fell in love with this small, fire-wielding mage aren't alone; it would take a cold-hearted person to not love his naïve nature and strong-hearted progression through the game.
Anyone who favors Vivi likely has the same irable qualities with an endearing innocence, a child-like view of the world, and a tendency to lend a hand even when they're not feeling at their best.
Final Fantasy VI: Terra
There were many memorable characters from Final Fantasy VI, but Terra was one of the strongest and most recognizable. Terra embodies the nature of a true heroine, exhibiting boundless comion despite a troubled past, she learns how to open her heart to love.
Her character design echoes her strength and softness, and those who favor Terra probably have a penchant for leadership, tenacity, and wisdom.
Final Fantasy VIII: Squall Leonhart
The 'Whatever' kid makes an appearance once again! Squall is a tough character to figure out, but not one without reason; it's his seeming inability to love and feel emotion other than anger or melancholy that are testaments to his hard exterior.
It doesn't take much to determine that Squall fans likely feel the same feeling of being misunderstood while also waiting for a reason to let their walls down. Protective and fierce, Squall is a representation of the melancholy in us all.
Final Fantasy X: Tidus
Tidus from Final Fantasy X is perhaps best known for his laughing, but that single poorly-aged cutscene doesn't really do the character justice. It's more likely that Tidus fans are gifted with a soft-hearted nature, a playful edge, and have the ability to brighten someone's day if they're having a rough go of it. Combine that with his superior Blitzball skills, and it might be possible that those who love Tidus also love sports.
Final Fantasy VII: Sephiroth
Just because Sephiroth is someone's favorite doesn't necessarily mean they're cold-hearted, cruel, and calculating like he is. It's more likely that those who ire Sephiroth ire his strength and power, which can also make for good attributes.
The Sephiroth Stans of the world are likely gifted with a knack for leading people, commanding a presence, and, at times, seeming intimidating or superior—but this also masquerades as confidence.
Final Fantasy X: Yuna
Yuna is a gentle soul who couldn't hurt a fly and as a true healer, so it's not surprising that she was so beloved by so many. Fans that share her attributes are able to see the light in the world and use it to make others smile without sacrificing their own well-being.
There's a unique power in being able to spread joy and happiness while also taking the time to understand someone, and, if Yuna is your favorite, then chances are that you have similar abilities and positive qualities.
Final Fantasy VII: Cloud Strife
If you're a fan of Cloud, then you're probably also a fan of Squall—they exude similar vibes, after all. Cloud is a little more jaded and closed-off, which makes him a little harder to predict. However, that doesn't mean fans of the once-SOLDIER (or so he thought) are necessarily as closed-off as he is.
Fans definitely ire his determination, strength, and willpower when it comes to finishing a job and, further on in the game, likely appreciated the devotion to his team , as well.
Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning
Lightning has a bit of Cloud-like energy herself—which makes for an obvious pun—but, once again, she's a very misunderstood character. She's the opposite of Terra in the sense that her kindness is a bit skewed, but only in the name of self-preservation and the defense of her sister.
This fierce loyalty and fighting spirit are what draws so many to her and the story of Final Fantasy XIII, and anyone who would stand by her probably exhibits the same strong, confident, and brazen attributes.
Final Fantasy XV: Noctis
There's always something gloomy in most Final Fantasy characters, isn't there? If there wasn't, they'd probably have no reason to stand and fight. Noctis, while immature and stubborn from the start, is transformed into a true king with noble qualities by the end of XV. So, what does being a Noctis fan say? It means you appreciate that boyish attitude, being stubborn in the face of change, and ultimately knowing when to bear arms and do the right thing for those who matter.
Final Fantasy XII: Balthier
While Final Fantasy XII doesn't always get the love it deserves, there are plenty of characters in this game who deserve honor, especially Balthier. The suave nature of this leading man translates well despite his confidence that borders on arrogance at times.
With that being said, he's the first to throw a hand in the ring even with his own motives in mind, and anyone sporting a Balthier attitude is definitely confident, logical, and probably the life of the party.
