cast of Full House, the pair being a core part of many episodes across the sitcom's run. The show is now considered a classic in the genre, thanks to both its humor and more heartfelt moments as Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) raises his kids following the death of their mother, Pam.

Talking on the podcast How Rude, Tanneritos! (via Entertainment Weekly), Sweetin stated she wished Full House had its characters speak more about Pam Tanner. The actor said it didn't need to be presented in a sad way, with the show slowly offering more memories of her as the family heals. While she conceded a sitcom needed to stay light, Barber added it didn't need to be "sappy" with its presentation if they did address her death. Check out what Sweetin and Barber had to say below:

Jodie Sweetin: It doesn't need to be morbid or down. It would [be like] naturally, over time when you can tell stories about somebody that are funny. Like, I would have loved to have heard more stories about Pam with the kids or something she did with Danny, because that's kind of what you do when someone es. That's what you keep them alive with, the stories, and I feel like Pam just really got, sort of... It was like, you’re dead, bye. You know?.... I guess you can't get too dark in a sitcom, but I think maybe as time went on, you could do it differently, and it would no longer be sad.

Andrea Barber: Yeah. It doesn't have to be sappy with the violins and crying.

Jodie Sweetin: Like, no. You could just have a casual mention in these later seasons.

What Sweetin & Barber's Change Would Mean For Full House

The Show Could Have Acknowledged How It Began More Often

Pam Tanner's death was the catalyst for the events of the sitcom, leading to Danny getting his brother-in-law, Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos), and his best friend, Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier), to help him raise his daughters. Their mother only showed up in season 2, episode 18, "Goodbye, Mr. Bear," where she appeared in a home video portrayed by Christine Ho. While the best Full House episodes have plenty of emotional moments throughout, there is a lack of recognition surrounding Danny's wife as the show goes on.

As Sweetin and Barber mention, many of the show's sincere moments about life don't include mention of the Tanner girls' mother, nor their grief over her death. While this may have led to some darker moments that would bring down the sitcom's mood, it also would have offered a more direct acknowledgment of how their perspective changes over the course of many years. While the end of Full House wrapped the show up in an emotionally resonant way, the lack of Pam's involvement means plenty could have been changed to bring the series full circle.

Our Take On How Full House Could Have Handled Pam Tanner

The Show Could Have Made Nods To Her Fate More Often

Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone in Full House

Although the series did address Pam's death in multiple episodes, showing how the family was healing over time, there could have been more discussion about her as the series went on. While she remained a significant presence throughout Full House's run, it would have been interesting to see more focus on everyone's perspective on her death changing as the years went on. However, the show still provided plenty of memorable, emotional moments throughout its run, making it an unforgettable part of sitcom history.
