After years of waiting, fans of the game Dead Island have finally received a trailer for the next game with an expected release date. Developers have noted that they are hoping for a release date of February 3, 2023. While Dead Island 2 is a few months away, the wait for the western, demon-fighting action game Evil West is coming to an end.
Evil West will be available on November 22nd, and there is plenty of excitement for its release from players who have pre-ordered or plan to order the game. But since there is some time to spare, other games similar in content/theme to Evil West are available to play while the clock ticks down.
Chernobylite (2019)
While it is known for being a tragedy that affected many lives, Chernobyl has also become a topic of inspiration for TV shows, comics, books, movies, and even video games. One of the video games it inspired that would be a good choice for players to pick up is Chernobylite.
Chernobylite is a sci-fi, horror, survival RPG set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Players take on the role of a former nuclear engineer at the Chernobyl Power Plant named Igor Khymynyuk. As Igor investigates the disappearance of his fiancée 30 years before the meltdown, players will also come into with the NAR corporation that has taken control of the site. It's not just the radiation and other humans players will have to worry about, but the monsters that lurk in the darkness.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War (2020)
For players that can't wait to get their hands on Evil West, there are other horror games with heavy combat that contains plenty of action and gore to satisfy the craving of those who want to take out demonic/evil enemies. Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an excellent example of such a game.
As an online multiplayer co-op game made by the creators of Sniper Elite 4, Zombie Army 4 has players take on Hitler's hordes of demonic undead soldiers. This game follows the third game, where the resistance had initially defeated Zombie Hitler and sent him back to Hell, but rather than staying there, the fight continues, and players forces to fight the good fight against Hitler and his undead army.
Singularity (2010)
While waiting to take on the west, there are other settings that are worth exploring. Aside from some games placing their settings in the World Wars, the game Singularity takes place in 1952 during the Cold War and adds time travel to the mix.
The game is an FPS/ action/ sci-fi with some horror, as players take control of the character Nate Renko, an elite Special Forces soldier. Players will investigate strange radiation emissions from the mysterious island known only as "Katorga-12" after the "Singularity" had occurred on the island. Throughout the game, players will switch between the years 1952-1955 and 2010 while dealing with the Russians in each one. On top of this already strenuous situation, there will be hideous mutated flora and fauna to fight off.
Metro Exodus (2019)
Nuclear fallout has become a popular theme for some games, and it certainly wouldn't be a nuclear fallout game without monsters in it. The video game adaptation of the novel Metro Exodus made sure there were plenty.
After a nuclear war, only a few thousand survivors would remain underneath the ruins of Moscow. In the story-driven first-person game filled with terrifying creatures, the main character Artyom is now on a mission, allowing players to explore the vast Russian wilderness that has been taking over the never-ending nuclear winter. But there will always be something ready to snatch up and kill players if they are not careful in this deadly world.
Doom Eternal (2020)
The Doom Eternal, and it's the perfect game to play before killing demons in Evil West.
Returning as the Doom Slayer and fighting through Hell, slaughtering any and every demon that crosses his path, the armies of Hell now take to invading Earth in an attempt to eradicate humanity. The Doom Slayer is the only one to stop them and send the demons back to Hell, and players get a chance to enjoy the creative and brutal ways of slaughtering demons.
Dead Space 2 (2011)
Alongside Dead Island 2, the remake of the popular game Dead Space 2.
Players get to take on the role of the Systems Engineer turned Necromorph killer Issac Clarke. After waking up three years after the traumatic events of The Ishimura and witnessing the reanimated human bodies turning into the monstrous Necromorphs, he is thrown right back into the hellish realm that the artifact, "The Marker," causes. Players must fight through several types of Necromorphs with various weapons that can be customized alongside the customizable armor that comes with a unique health bar Issac wears to escape the new nightmare of Dead Space 2.
Evil Dead: The Game (2022)
This year the iconic movies of the Ash VS. The Evil Dead came together in the form of a video game known simply as Evil Dead: The Game. Not only were critics impressed, but so were fans, and in this game, Ash and his crew are there to take out the evil forces coming their way.
Stepping into the shoes of Ash William or as one of his friends, the multiplayer game has players taking on Deadites that other players on the opposite team will play. There is also a story mode where players can play it alone. No matter what the player chooses, they get to experience the fun of taking out evil or being the ones to kill the good guys while listening to the great words of Ash Williams.
Devil May Cry 5 (2019)
Evil West has shown off its great details to fans through its trailer and sneak peek gameplay, and some have noticed that the game seems to have Devil May Cry 5 is highly recommended.
The game is known for its over-the-top action involving the popular hack and slash fighting style and a secret game ending. Devil May Cry 5 brings in favorite fan Dante alongside Nero and Nico, taking on the threat of the demonic power that has returned to the world from the seed of a "demon tree" to take root in Red Grave City. In this intense game, the three will take on evil demons, such as the blood-sucking Empusa, the colossus enemy, and the giant Goliath.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
fan-favorite western-themed game, but it is undoubtedly a game that should be recommended due to the theme and its action-packed moments.
The game is a prequel to the first game, which takes place in America in 1899, and Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are on the run from both federal agents and some of the best bounty hunters in the nation. Arthur and the gang must steal and fight their way through the rugged heartland of America to survive. Conflict, gun fights, and struggles all take place in this one game, providing hours of fun.
Hunt: Showdown (2018)
If there is one western-themed game with plenty of monsters to kill and banish that is very similar to the premise of Evil West, it's Hunt: Showdown. The game is set in 1895 in the Lousiana Bayou, with players taking on the role of a hunter.
Hunt: Showdown uses weapons from 1985, and with the help of teammates, players will play against a rival team playing as the monsters who want nothing more than to tear a hunter apart. Players must be strategic when it comes to the way they hunt while watching out for potential enemies that may be lurking around every corner. So enjoy the hunt, collect a bounty, enjoy the scenery and get ready for the game, Evil West.
