Lorelai Gilmore is a very entertaining character. She knows her pop-culture, has a quick wit, a caffeine addiction and two "Mary is my Homegirl" t-shirts. Her ability to find the humor in the most mundane things made her both endearing and relatable. However, there's no denying she was also very immature and selfish. She always thought about herself and didn't see how her words and actions could damage those around her.

During the show's run, she made a lot of questionable choices. And while she never did anything that she couldn't fix, her tendency to speak without thinking first, and act without considering the consequences, definitely caused trouble, for herself and the people she most cared about.

Every Time She Feeds Her Child Junk Food

Starting the list is one of her lesser transgressions, Lorelai paid little to no importance to her child's nutrition. This was on-brand with her I'm-not-a-regular-mom-I'm-a-cool-mom approach to parenting, but it was still pretty jarring.

On one of their regular movie nights, the Gilmore girls could eat copious amounts of junk food. These usually included candy, cookie dough, peanut butter, chocolate, and a wide variety of take-out. They always had breakfast at Luke's, where they usually ate pancakes or waffles or French toast, not to mention the industrials amounts of coffee they drank every day.

When She Trash-Talks Emily In An Interview

During the episode "To Live and Let Diorama," Lorelai gives an interview to a travel magazine in an effort to bring more publicity to the Dragonfly. However, and as she usually does, she lets her mouth run wild after the interviewer asks her about her mother.

In just a few seconds, Lorelai compares Emily to both Stalin and Mussolini, says that Superman's Fortress of Solitude was "a Jamaican beach" compared to her mother's house, and says that any topic short of famine is better than her relationship with Emily. She later feels guilty and tries to pull the article from being published, but ultimately fails.

When She Nearly Ruins Martha and Davey's Baptism

Rory and Lorelai holding Sookie and Jackson's babies in Gilmore Girls

During her infamous fight in Season 6, both Gilmore girls are asked to be godmothers to Sookie's two children, Martha and Davey. They agree, but can't help themselves from bringing their personal issues to the party.

When she discovers that Rory changed her cell phone number and everyone has it but her, Lorelai gets really upset. She interrupts the ceremony and goes outside with Rory, while still holding the babies. They start fighting and Sookie has to step in and ask them to get back in so that the baptism can continue. It's just another example of Lorelai thinking about nothing but her own drama.

When She Sleeps With Christopher While At Her Parents' House

During the season 1 episode "Christopher Returns," Straub and Francine Hayden, Christopher's parents, are invited to dinner at the Gilmore's. The evening goes terribly and ends up in a huge fight, where Straub insults both Lorelai and Rory before being kicked out of the house by Richard.

A wounded Lorelai hides in her old room, where Christopher finds her. After a short talk and a couple of shots of Jose Cuervo, the two make love spontaneously. It's a reckless choice made in the heat of the moment. Lorelai always had a soft spot for Christopher, but the fact that she instantly regretted being with him speaks volumes about their relationship.

...And Then Marries Him Without Really Loving Him

During that strangely bad season 7, Lorelai and Christopher get back together, get engaged, get married, and then get divorced, all in the span of ten episodes. While in Paris, the two decide to marry without telling anyone, not even Rory, who reacts negatively when told the news.

Throughout their rushed relationship, it's more than clear that Lorelai is still in love with Luke, which makes her whole marriage all the more inconceivable. To some, it even seems that Lorelai deliberately uses Christopher, just to try and get over Luke, which is honestly the worst.

When She Kisses Her Daughter's Teacher At School

In all honesty, Lorelai behaved terribly towards Max Medina. They actually break up twice in the show. The first time, Lorelai decides to do it out of panic when she feels Rory is getting too attached to him. During Chilton's Parent-Teacher night, she abruptly attempts to end things, but fails and instead ends up ionately kissing him.

Paris, however, sees them together and spreads the gossip around school, humiliating both Rory and Max in the process. This leads to their actual separation, since Max feels too overwhelmed by what happened and who could blame him?

When She Breaks Her Engagement With Max And Makes Rory Go On A Trip With Her

The second time they broke up it was actually for good. Lorelai decides to end their engagement because she realizes she doesn't really love Max. She actually calls Christopher during her bachelorette party, making her actions all the more immature.

Having ended her engagement, Lorelai takes her on a whirlwind trip to Harvard. It's just an excuse to avoid telling everyone that her engagement is off, signaling how she'd rather run and avoid her problems, rather than face them head on.

When She Yells At Emily For Not Being Happy About Her Wedding

While still engaged to Max, Lorelai tells everyone about her nuptials. Everyone, that is, except Emily, who finds out by chance after Sookie accidentally tells her. The matriarch of the Gilmore clan reacts by acting cold and distant when Lorelai actually reveals she's getting married.

Believing that her mother is just being mean, Lorelai burst into the Gilmore house one night and yells at her mother for her apparent lack of care about her daughter's big news. Emily, however, turns the tables on Lorelai by revealing that she already knew and had to find out from a stranger. Lorelai is left to ponder her own selfishness, and silently leaves her mother's house like a scolded child.

When She Yells At Luke And Blames Him For Rory And Jess' Car Accident

Lorelai yells at Luke

During one of Gilmore Girls' best episodes, "Teach Me Tonight," Rory and Jess get into an accident after he avoids hitting a deer and crashes her car. They are both relatively unharmed and Rory only suffers a fractured wrist. Lorelai, however, completely loses control and, after checking out on Rory at the hospital, goes looking for Jess.

She instead finds Luke and viciously yells at him, practically blaming him for the accident. Luke tells her off and the two part ways. Soon after, Luke makes Jess go away and remains distanced from Lorelai for a while. This is one of her worst most self-centered moments, since she never even asks if Jess is doing okay. And while she had the right to be upset, she didn't have to behave like a child, especially towards Luke, who always ed her.

When She Makes An Insesitive Comment About Her Father At His Wake

A Year in the Life gave audiences what is definitely Lorelai's worst, most immature moment. After Richard's death, Lorelai s Emily and a small group of friends at the Gilmore house. Emily asks each of them to tell a heart-warming story about Richard, which they all do. But Lorelai instead tells a story about how Richard once abandoned her while playing hide and seek.

It's a truly shocking scene, and while it's clear that Lorelai was both drunk and grieving, she once again allowed her worst instincts to take over. She speaks without thinking of the consequences, or of the pain she'll cause to Emily. It's the sort of behavior audiences have come to expect from the character, and while she finally seems to mature by the end of the revival, a lot of what came before was less than excusable.
