Warning: Spoilers for Green Lantern Corps #2 (2025) ahead!
It's the dawn of a new era for the Green Lantern Corps, with the universe's foremost peacekeeping force now more or less the major governing body for all of DC's cosmos. In such new circumstances, key figures have rapidly risen to the top of the Corps' ranks, with one particular fan-favorite character showing off their newfound mastery over the Emotional Spectrum that gives the Lanterns their powers.
In previews for Morgan Hampton, Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, and Arif Prianto's Green Lantern Corps (2025) #2, Green Lantern John Stewart accompanies Hawkwoman to the ruins of her home planet, Thanagar. His team also includes the perennial drill seargant, Kilowog, and fan-favorite character Razer, newly revealed to now be a Green Lantern.
When Stewart checks in on Razer to see how he's handling his transition to wielding a Green Lantern ring and the light of Willpower, Razer confirms that it is the third color of light he has mastered, alongside Red's rage and Blue's hope.
Razer is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful Lanterns in existence.
Razer's Journey from Animation to Comics
The Beloved Red Lantern’s Evolution from Rage to Hope in the DC Universe
Razer the Red Lantern first appeared as an original character created for Green Lantern: The Animated Series in 2011, where he and his star-crossed romance with the Green Lantern, Aya, quickly became one of the strongest elements of the show. After the series' cancellation, Razer's story received an unexpected epilogue in the season 4 episode of Young Justice, "Encounter on the Razer's Edge." The one-shot episode continues where the animated series left off, detailing how Razer became a Blue Lantern in his quest to find the missing Aya, and shows him mastering both Rage and Hope.
Razer officially entered DC comic canon in Green Lantern (2023) #7, by Jeremy Adams, Amancay Nahuelpan, and Romulo Fajardo Jr. While much of his backstory is glossed over, he is introduced as a former Blue Lantern and a friend of Hal Jordan, seeking Jordan's help after the Blue Lantern battery on Odym is destroyed. With Aya's ship from the animated series also appearing in recent Green Lantern comics, much of Razer's animated continuity has made it into his comic book iteration. Now, Green Lantern Corps #2 confirms that Razer's past as a Red Lantern is indeed canon to the comics.

Razer s The Ranks Of The Most Powerful Lanterns Ever
One-Third of the Emotional Spectrum Is At His Command
As the various Lantern Corps draw their powers from different lights of the cosmic Emotional Spectrum, the most powerful Lanterns tend to be those who have mastered wielding multiple lights together. As someone who can wield three of the ten known colors of the Emotional Spectrum, Razer now s the likes of Sinestro, who has mastered Will, Rage, and Fear, and Kyle Rayner, the White Lantern, who can wield the entire spectrum at once. This means Razer is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful Lanterns in existence, with no signs of stopping as he continues his search for Aya.
Razer has been a fan-favorite since his debut, though his future remained uncertain due to his ties to DC’s animated series. Now, his appearances in the comics not only confirm that all of Razer’s beloved traits remain intact but also establish him as one of the most formidable Lanterns to ever exist. Razer is an iconic character for a reason, and his time in the Green Lantern Corps is just the next step as his story finally continues in the comics.
