Dataminers and leaks suggest that Halo Infinite could be getting a Battle Royale mode after all, and it may see a release sooner than expected. Fans flocked to the free-to-play multiplayer of Halo Infinite when it was first released more than six months ago. Players have been able to unlock plenty of cosmetics to set their Spartans apart from each other while enjoying cross-platform multiplayer with PC players. Unfortunately, the timed events and Battle unlockables have failed to keep FPS fans interested in the sci-fi shooter for very long.
The Halo Infinite multiplayer started incredibly strong with record-breaking numbers of players when released a month before fans anticipated it. However, certain delays and a lack of new maps have caused many players to lose interest. 343 Industries continues to work hard on new multiplayer and single-player content with new maps and modes coming to Halo Infinite's multiplayer in Season 2. It has also promised that campaign co-op and the highly customizable Forge mode will arrive in subsequent seasons. But leaks suggest that players will also be treated to a Battle Royale mode in one of the seasons.
Previous rumors of Halo Infinite's Battle Royale mode seem more likely after uncovered new information. BR games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Call of Duty: Warzone. Other tweets from leaks_infinite suggest the mode could see 60-100 players and bots battling for supremacy in the mode, but like other leaks, time will reveal which turn out to be true.
Leaks have been an issue for Halo Infinite even before its launch. Rumors suggested the multiplayer's early release, and data miners uncovered information that could see future content added, such as Buzz Lightyear-themed cosmetics. However, the rumored Battle Royale mode has been difficult to keep secret. Inside sources have reported that BR mode has been in development for more than two years, and that Halo Infinite's Battle Royale mode is being worked on by a separate developer so that 343 Industries may continue to focus on new single-player and multiplayer content for Infinite.
New multiplayer maps and modes are coming on May 3rd in Halo Infinite's anticipated second season. Both new maps, Catalyst and Breaker, look to breathe some fresh air into the multiplayer. Season 2 of Infinite's multiplayer is said to focus on a Lone Wolves theme, but rumors and speculation have fans expecting later seasons to include substantial content like the promised Forge mode, co-op campaign, and now an entirely new Battle Royale mode. If the many teams behind Halo Infinite's development are able to complete all of the modes these leaks suggest they are working on, then Halo fans will have lots of new content to enjoy.
