They were invented by accident, so the story goes, when Bertie Bott was trying to make sweets based on food, but accidentally made one taste like a dirty sock. He recognized the amazing potential: A risk with every mouthful! His creation became so popular and made him so famous that he got his own Chocolate Frog Card.
