Daniel Radcliffe recently expressed disinterest in returning for a movie version of the 2016 play The Lost City, Radcliffe was asked about how he felt about director Chris Columbus wanting him to star in Cursed Child. Radcliffe responded (via The New York Times) that while he's "never going to say never," part of what made the recent HBO Max Harry Potter reunion so special is that he's actually able to enjoy revisiting the franchise now that "it's not a part of [his] day-to-day life anymore." While he equated the Cursed Child proposition to Star Wars regulars returning in 2015, names like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill had more than 30 years to step back from their iconic roles following Return of the Jedi's 1983 release.

With the Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows and focuses on the time-traveling adventures of Harry's son Albus and Draco's son Scorpio Malfoy, as they try to help Harry rectify past mistakes. In typical time-travel genre fashion, their actions have an unforeseen effect on the future. Saving Cedric Diggory's life leads to Lord Voldemort becoming Minister of Magic, for instance.

While there are good reasons for a Cursed Child movie, overall, it may be too early to bring Harry Potter and friends back into the franchise. Despite their successful box office performance, the Fantastic Beasts movies aren't receiving as much positive reception from audiences as the original Harry Potter films. Still, while a Cursed Child movie would bring back Harry, Ron, and Hermione and likely be more welcomed by fans, a little more time after the reunion and original series will help grow fan interest and give its actors more time to yearn for their Harry Potter roles. Due to Cursed Child's placement on the Harry Potter timeline, it would need to happen relatively soon. However, the adaptation could stand to wait another ten years or so and allow the franchise to breathe a little.

Lately, Radcliffe has been branching away into different roles to avoid being ed solely as Harry Potter. Swiss Army Man and the New Zealand action-comedy Guns Akimbo where the actor had the opportunity to really stretch his skills out. While Daniel Radcliffe is fond of his Harry Potter role, he's right in allowing the character to settle before returning back to it.

Due to the time difference between Deathly Hallows and the reunion, the actors and Harry Potter fans alike were happy in seeing everyone together. Especially now that the reunion satisfies a collective Harry Potter appetite in a way that Fantastic Beasts couldn't, the franchise can stand to wait a while longer before bringing its most beloved actors back again. In the meantime, Potterheads can enjoy plenty of movies and TV shows that will explore more aspects of the Wizarding World.
