season 2 of Hazbin Hotel and beyond. The series follows Charlie, demonic royalty, as she tries to manage a rehabilitation center for damned souls so they can find redemption — and a possible escape from Hell.
While some of these possible future directions of the show were teased in the season 1 ending of Hazbin Hotel, Medrano and the rest of her team have plenty of room to delve further into characters and their stories over the next three confirmed seasons. One of the more exciting revelations from Screen Rant's interview with Medrano included a hint about Hazbin Hotel season 2's focus on Overlords like Alistor's rival, Vox. If the show is shifting gears to focus on the Overlords, then it's the perfect time for the series to delve further into one specific member of the main cast.

Hazbin Hotel Continues A Positive Representation Trend In Animated Shows
Hazbin Hotel is notable for its rousing musicals and distinct animation style. However, its handling of diverse characters also helps it stand out.
Hazbin Hotel's Overlord Focus Means Husk Is More Important Than Ever
A Focus On The Overlords Could Be The Perfect Chance To Highlight Husk
During Screen Rant's chat with Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano at San Diego Comic-Con, Medrano teases about future seasons could position Keith David's Husk at the center of the show's narrative. Among the aspects of the show Medrano hinted at was the origins of Alistor and the importance of the Overlords of Hell, telling Screen Rant "Season 2 we get more Rosie with the other Overlords. We get more presence, I think, in Hell... So I think we get more of a focus on that world because [season villain Vox] is also an overlord."
This suggests that the Overlords who rule Hell as a council will be central to the plot of the season and potentially ones beyond that. This makes sense given the ending of the season, which teased that Vox and his allies were poised to try and use the chaos caused by the failed angelic assault to gain more power. However, this also means that Husk may prove to be a far more important character, as his mysterious backstory as a former Overlord was only teased during season 1.
Husk's Backstory Could Explain How Overlords In Hell Work
Husk's Downfall Could Explain A Lot About Hazbin Hotel's Rules
Husk is the bartender at the Hazbin Hotel, an unenviable position he was forced into by the powerful Alistor. This is a far cry from the character's former status as an Overlord, which he revealed in "Masquerade" and in songs like "Loser, Baby." The season steadily revealed that Alistor has control over Husk's soul, which he gained by winning a game of chance against the former overlord. This isn't something Husk enjoys, but he fears Alistor enough to follow his commands. With the show focusing more on overlords, it could be a opportunity to delve more into the deal.
The show focusing more on Husk could allow audiences a better look at how one gains (and loses) Overlord status, explaining more about the specific laws of Hell's ruling class. With Medrano teasing a deeper look into that corner of the world, Husk would be an invaluable asset. Exploring Husk's past could showcase how he became an Overlord, revealing the kind of maneuvers and power-grabs needed to take over in Hell. His fall from grace could then highlight the interplay between the Overlords, showing how they respond to one another when power shifts occur.

8 Hazbin Hotel Characters We Want To See More Of In Season 2
Vibrant ing characters from Hazbin Hotel including Emily the angel, Velvette of the Vees, and Cherri Bomb should appear more in season 2.
Husk Deserves To Take The Spotlight In Hazbin Hotel
Husk Needs To Become More Than Just A ing Character
Played by Keith David, Husk is one of the most engaging characters in Hazbin Hotel. The character has a natrual gravitas and lived-in quality that separates him from the more emotionally-driven or conflicted characters like Charlie, Angel Dust, or Vaggie. He's still easily capable of shifting into the show's brand of comedy, but has a more seasoned perspective that makes him an ideal ing character in Angel Dust's storyline. Husk's history with Alistor (and the other Overlords) is a compelling mystery, and it'd be exciting to see him at the height of his powers — or even attempting to reclaim them.
This could be the perfect way for the show to delve further into the Overlords from a perspective outside of Alistor. It could also be a chance to see the quietly sagely Husk in a different light, challenging him in ways he simply can't be when he's primarily a ing character. It's also an oppertunity for Keith David to take his performance to the next level, which is always exciting when he's involved. Hazbin Hotel might have the perfect way to give up Husk the spotlight, which would be an exciting development.
