It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is one of the longest-running shows on TV, and the sitcom will continue its streak with season 17. Since its debut in 2005, It’s Always Sunny has become a bona fide pop culture phenomenon, and it isn't slowly down any time soon. Created by cast Rob McElhenney and Glen Howerton, IASIP follows the owners of Paddy’s Pub — Charlie, Dee, Dennis, Mac, and Danny DeVito’s Frank — as they go about their shameless exploits. Almost two decades later the show is still going strong, with many eager for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 17.
With a more-or-less irredeemable core cast of characters and biting satirical humor, It’s Always Sunny managed to defy expectations and shape the blueprint for many modern sitcoms that followed — and, in hindsight, it’s unsurprising it’s managed to live to see season 17 and beyond. While it's impossible to predict exactly what’s next for the gang and Paddy’s Pub when It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia returns for season 17, it can be expected that the FX series will deliver plenty of misanthropic fun.

10 Unanswered Questions That It's Always Sunny Season 17 Finally Needs To Address
As It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia approaches its 17th season, there are still plenty of unanswered questions for the long-running sitcom to answer.

More Ridiculous Antics Are In Store For Season 17
The plots will also loosely satirize or lambast current events or social trends, so real-world goings will also inform the plot of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 17.
As an episodic sitcom, the broad premise of IASIP is pretty much unchanged from season to season. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 17 will be no different, with the gang still running Paddy’s Pub, and each episode having its own self-contained narrative around whatever obstacle Charlie, Dennis, Dee, Mac, and Frank have created for themselves. The plots will also loosely satirize or lambast current events or social trends, so real-world goings will also inform the plot of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 17.
The only episode plot that has been confirmed so far is season 17, episode 1, which will feature a crossover with the ABC sitcom, Abbott Elementary. The gang showed up at the titular school during Abbott Elementary's fourth season as "volunteers", and IASIP season 17's debut episode will feature the same story from the gang's perspective. The quartet will naturally wreak havoc, and push the usually lovable teachers to their absolute limits.
Season 16 saw the Moyles back and causing trouble for the gang for the first time since 2016’s season 11. Their return for the season 16 episode “The Gang Goes Bowling” was a welcome sight after so long without them. Another confirmed return is that of Rickety Cricket, and that means he's in store for more bad luck if he hangs around with the gang again. A show like It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia doesn’t leave much when it comes to season-to-season cliffhangers, but half the fun of the show is not knowing what kind of strange adventures the gang will get into.
