With Zack Snyder's Justice League will actually become the canonical one? There are a few arguments for each of them to be the definitive version, and today we'll be looking at both sides of the argument.

Snyder Cut: The Original Vision

The original vision for Justice League was Zack Snyder's movie. Before the studio mandates, before the shift in directors, Zack Snyder had a very clear idea of what he was looking for in Justice League. Once, you know, everything happened, that vision was gone. Justice League became a different film altogether. What fans got out of Justice League was never the goal. However, now things can finally be rectified with Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Theatrical Cut: It's Less Confusing

To casual moviegoers, they're not going to understand the continuity of the DCEU if the theatrical Justice League is swapped out for a brand new one that was only on HBO Max. While fans will get it, it just won't make any sense to people who are popping in here and there for a movie or two. If you don't have to do these mental gymnastics with the MCU, it would be nice if you didn't have to do it with the DCEU either.

Snyder Cut: It's Overall Better

Justice League

While not fully confirmed, one would be led to believe that Zack Snyder's Justice League is going to be an overall better movie than the theatrical cut. Hopefully.

Doesn't it make sense that fans would want the best version of Justice League to be the canonical? Hopefully one with less mustache VFX? And maybe less jokes and camera angles that objectify Wonder Woman?  Zack Snyder's Justice League is looking to be a better movie, so we'll take that one, please.

Theatrical Cut: Batman

Who even knows what is going on with Ben Affleck in Justice League, Robert Pattinson in The Batman, and possibly Michael Keaton Flashpoint. What? How in the world is anyone supposed to follow this nonsense?

Honestly, is this a point in the direction of the theatrical version or the Snyder Cut version? Who knows. The theatrical version is probably a bit better because it sort of cuts one of the three Batmen out of the picture, but there's just far too many in the continuity right now.

Snyder Cut: Fits The DCEU Framework

Zack Snyder was once supposed to helm the DCEU, he had an overarching goal that he wanted to achieve with the universe. When the original Justice League came out, those plans were derailed, the goal was no more. Now, that goal can be sustained, and depending on how well the Snyder Cut does, it can perhaps be maintained going into future movies. Let's hope that things go well, and the DCEU can once again be helmed by Zack Snyder.

Theatrical Cut: Multiple Movies Released After It

While it would be nice to see Zack Snyder's vision re-instated in the DCEU, the fact of the matter is that several movies have been released since the theatrical Justice League. Aquaman, Shazam!, and Birds of Prey have all come out, and while not all of those were necessarily affected by Justice League, the fact is that all of those movies, and movies, have the roots of Justiec League inside of them, and uprooting that for Zack Snyder's version of the film cause a bit of a problem.

Snyder Cut: It's Just Right

The Flash about to run in Justice League

When it gets down to it, the main reason that the Snyder Cut should be the canon film is because it's just right. Zack Snyder should get his film, he was done dirty with the theatrical release.

His vision was destroyed by what the studio did to Justice League, and he should have a chance to set things right and make the movie that he really wanted to. With the Snyder Cut, he finally has a chance to, and the DCEU should incorporate it to fully cement it.

Theatrical Cut: Continuity Nightmare

Justice League DCEU Movie Plan

The main argument for the theatrical version, however, is that it is all much less of a continuity nightmare if this version is the canon one. There don't have to be any major resets, things can just be as they were after this mess of a movie was released. Maybe that's the way that things should be.

At This Point

What does it even matter at this point? The DCEU is a total mess, it doesn't make any sort of sense. Batmans are switching in and out, Supermans may or may not be in, our Flashes are absolute messes in real life, nothing is safe anymore. Does it matter which version of Justice League is the canon one at this point? Maybe not. However, there is one way that this can all be resolved very easily.

Flashpoint

Superman and The Flash racing

With the  Flashpoint movie, things can be resolved. Generally, the Flashpoint storyline revolves around Barry time traveling to save his mom, and in turn, the entire universe changes. Once Barry sets the world right once more, the DCEU can be set just the way that the creators want it to. Hopefully, Zack Snyder will be very involved with that process. For now, though, only time will tell.
