The X-Men's Kitty Pryde to Jubilee.

Kate "Kitty" Pryde - who Wolverine affectionately took to nicknaming "Pum'kin" - was the first of these sidekicks. Kitty ed the X-Men shortly after her phasing powers first developed, and she found an unlikely mentor in Wolverine. The bond between Kate and Wolverine is a deep one, and yet they've gone head-to-head several times. Surprisingly, Wolverine has no qualms about itting Kate would win should they ever go head-to-head - in part because of her skills, but in part because of her powers.

Kate's powers give her two major edges against Wolverine in a straight fight. She has the power to phase the atoms of her body, turning intangible, meaning Wolverine literally can't land a blow. What's more, Kate can control her phasing powers with such precision she can land punches even as Wolverine fights a ghost. She could even go one step further, dropping down and phasing part of Wolverine's body into the ground - before releasing it. This would mean Wolverine's body would be occupying the same space as the ground, and it would leave him in absolute agony. Kate could easily use this strategy to leave Wolverine reeling, so she can land even more blows.

Kate Pryde Can Beat Wolverine's Incredible Senses

But Kate's greatest advantage is the fact Wolverine cannot track her. As seen in Uncanny X-Men #160 by Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson, Kate possesses absolutely no scent when she's phasing. Wolverine is used to using his enhanced senses to track his opponents, but they would be completely useless against Kate, who'd be able to slip soundlessly and scentlessly behind him. Kate has actually been trained as a ninja by one of Wolverine's enemies, Ogun, meaning she knows how to use the shadows too. These skills perfectly complement her powers, meaning Kate should be able to take Wolverine down with surprising ease.

It's surely only a matter of time before this is put to the test, of course. The X-Men are famous for their infighting, and it's frankly easier to think of a match-up that hasn't happened than it is to list the versus matches that have taken place. If Kate Pryde ever does take on Wolverine, though, he'll have cause to regret it.
