Summary

  • The Deluxe Edition of Madden NFL 25 costs $30 more than the Standard but mainly offers in-game currency for Ultimate Team Mode.
  • Pre-order bonuses for both editions largely impact Ultimate Team Mode, so players who don't play that mode may not find them appealing.
  • Players who buy the Deluxe Edition get Early Access on August 13, 2024, three days before the official release, which has been popular with fans.

both games have pre-order bonuses, the Deluxe Edition comes with a few more. There are also slight differences in what players get from the base game of each, though they aren’t so drastic that fans will feel they are forced to get the Deluxe Edition to get the most out of Madden NFL 25.

One interesting aspect about the pre-order bonuses for both editions of Madden NFL 25 is that they largely impact one game mode. If players aren’t a fan of that mode, which many have expressed they aren’t, then there isn’t much incentive to pre-order the game. Madden players will likely also want to know ahead of time what they’re being up-charged for when buying the Deluxe Edition, as it has similar issues to the pre-order bonuses. That said, it could be argued that pre-order bonuses and Deluxe Edition add-ons being this frivolous is actually a big win for consumers.

Madden NFL 25 Standard And Deluxe Edition Differences

The Standard Edition Costs $59.99 And The Deluxe Edition Costs $99.99

Unlike other games that have Deluxe Editions, there isn’t much difference between the two versions of Madden NFL 25. There is no substantial DLC or season that comes with the Deluxe Edition. Instead, it only has two small changes that set it apart from the Standard Edition. The first of those is that the Deluxe Edition comes with 4600 Madden Points, which is the in-game currency used for Madden’s Ultimate Team Mode.

The Madden Deluxe Edition costs $99.99, $30 more than the Standard Edition. The cost seems to be largely justified by the in-game currency players receive along with it since there aren’t any major additions to the game’s content. In Madden NFL 24, players could purchase 5,850 Madden Points for $50. If the exchange rate stays the same, players get a deal on points by getting 4600 for $30. That said, Madden Points are mainly used for Ultimate Team Mode, so anyone who doesn’t play that mode can skip the Deluxe Edition, save money, and not miss out much.

The nice thing about the Deluxe Edition being so focused on Ultimate Team is that it's easier for players to just buy the cheaper option if they don't play that specific game mode. This is a nice change of pace from some games that paywall a lot of essential content within a Deluxe Edition's DLC. Players who buy the Standard Edition can always try out Ultimate Team mode, then decide after playing it if it's something they want to spend their money on.

College Football 25 also has a version of Ultimate Team Mode that includes NFL players.

The only major difference between the two editions of Madden NFL 25 that doesn’t have to do with Ultimate Team Mode is Early Access. Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game will be able to start playing on August 13, 2024, instead of the official release date, August 16. Despite issues with the trend of players being charged a to play a game early, this feature does seem to be very popular.

During the early access period for College Football 25, which had the same model for its Deluxe Edition as Madden NFL 25, 2.2 million unique s were playing the game. While some of this could be attributed to the hype around it being the first college football game in a decade, it still seems like a significant number of players don’t mind paying for early access. So, even if Madden doesn’t do the same numbers, there will likely be a portion of the players who already planned on buying the game happy to pay extra for the Deluxe Edition.

Madden NFL 25 Pre-Order Bonuses

Both Editions Come With Bonuses For Ultimate Team And Superstar Mode

Pre-ordering Madden NFL 25 will get players a few in-game rewards. Many of these pre-order bonuses are the same for both editions of the game, though the Deluxe Edition does get a few extra bonus items. Though there is a bit more variety here, the pre-order bonuses are also largely focused on Ultimate Team mode, so again, these aren’t must-haves for players who don’t typically play it.

Pre-ordering either edition of Madden NFL 25 will give players a Christian McCaffrey Elite Player Item that they can use to upgrade the Madden NFL 25’s cover athlete in Ultimate Team mode. Players will also get two Strategy Items of their choice for Ultimate Team mode. There are also a few pre-order bonuses for Superstar mode, like golden jersey players can put on their custom avatar, and a Legendary XP Boost to help them get a head start on leveling up.

In addition to the above items, pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition also comes with three days of Early Access, as stated before. Interestingly, EA also lists the 4600 Madden Points as a pre-order bonus on their website. It’s unclear if this means players won’t be able to purchase the Deluxe Edition after launch, or if doing so doesn’t give them the in-game currency since it is considered a pre-order bonus. Players should make sure they will receive their Madden Points after launch before purchasing the Deluxe Edition, otherwise, there is no point in paying the extra $30.

Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition of Madden NFL 25 before August 1, 2024, will also receive an AKA Player Item for Ultimate Team mode. This is an alternate version of players using their nickname and featuring alternate artwork. Unlike the Christian McCaffrey item, it seems like the AKA item is random, as EA doesn’t specify a player in their list of pre-order rewards.

Madden NFL 25 MVP Bundle

Players Can Buy Both Madden NFL 25 And College Football 25 In A Bundle

There is an alternate way for players to buy the Madden NFL 25 Deluxe Edition if they also want a copy of College Football 25’s Deluxe Edition. Players can buy both games bundled together for $149.99. This is a deal for players who want both $99.99 Deluxe Editions. However, these editions are only worth it if players plan on playing Ultimate Team mode. Players who don’t need the in-game currency can buy both Standard Editions of the game for $69.99, making it about $10 cheaper than the bundle.

That said, if players are even just a little curious about Ultimate Team mode and can spend an extra $10, it might be worth grabbing the bundle if they want both games. After all, they’ll be getting a significant amount of in-game currency for both games for just $10 if they do so. It seems unlikely EA Sports would keep including Ultimate Team mode if it didn’t have its fans, so it clearly appeals to some players.
