A Halo Infinite was released without Forge Mode, as developer 343 Industries held both it and Halo Infinite’s co-op campaign back to avoid any further delays for the already troubled title.
Said fans might not have to wait much longer to dive into Halo Infinite’s much-anticipated Forge Mode, as while 343 has yet to announce an actual release date for the mode, it has indicated that Forge could launch alongside the second season of Halo Infinite’s DLC. Many previous leaks have added credence to Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode launching soon, with gameplay footage showing off Forge Mode’s new Weapon Modification feature that will let players alter Infinite’s large arsenal of in-game weapons to make their own deadly combinations or simply have some fun in the combat-free sandbox. Some players who were able to test out Halo Infinite’s version of Forge Mode early are already playing around, with one even making Halo Reach’s flying Sabre fighter playable by combining it with a Banshee.
Now the inevitable gaming crossovers are starting to emerge, as PCGamesN recently reported on one Halo Infinite Forge Mode recreating the gameplay of Mario Kart in a simple, custom-made racecourse. This player, who goes by the handle of bissuetox, posted a short clip of this course in action to YouTube, with their in-game Spartan avatar driving Halo’s signature Warthog vehicle across the many jumps and loop-de-loops of this Mario Kart-style track. Bissuetox has even managed to recreate the Banana weapons from Mario Kart, which cause the Warthog to spin uncontrollably after driving into them.
Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode Brings Fan Crossovers To Life
Fans have been using Halo's Forge Mode to recreate scenes and locations from their favorite games, movies, and TV shows ever since the mode was first introduced in 2007’s Halo 3 - and this has only added to Forge Mode’s popularity among players. The previous iteration of Forge Mode, which was featured in 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians, has been used to remake such classic gaming locations as the Forest Temple Entrance from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and one player even rebuilt the demo level featured in Halo Infinite’s now infamous gameplay reveal trailer from the summer of 2020.
Halo Infinite’s version of the fan-favorite Forge Mode looks to continue the freedom of creativity that has made it such a popular staple of the Halo series, as evidenced by bissuetox’s spot-on reenactment of Mario Kart. It’s enough to make one wonder what an official Halo racing game would be like, but for now players are still waiting anxiously for Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode to be officially launched sometime in the near future.
