Ruffalo has been cast as Marie-Laure’s father, Daniel LeBlanc, the head locksmith at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. His character is said to be a smart and caring father who tries to give his daughter as much independence as he can while still protecting her - along with the secret gem they carry from the Nazi occupation. Meanwhile, Laurie will be taking on the role of Etienne LeBlanc, Marie-Laure's great-uncle and aberrant World War I hero dealing with PTSD. While the acting pair currently have a lot of film and television projects on their slate, filming for All The Light We Cannot See is expected to begin later this year once the final cast is rounded out, though a release date is yet to be confirmed.
