With news rather scant regarding a potential follow up to Mr. Monk's Last Case, the latest update sees Tony Shalhoub address Monk 2. The celebrated character actor stole the show once again as his beloved sleuth in the streaming-exclusive movie in 2023, and now he is seemingly open to return once again.

Though he spoke cautiously, Shalhoub not only expressed his hope for a sequel, but even hinted that creator Andy Breckman is working behind-the-scenes as well. While Shalhoub warned that "there isn’t a hard fixed plan yet," Monk 2 is beginning to sound like a possibility.

We don’t know if there’s going to be more, but it’s Andy Breckman’s wish, I think he’s signaling the people at NBC and Peacock, as much as the audience. We don’t know anything definite, there isn’t a hard fixed plan yet, but we all had such a great time bringing it back. Despite Andy Breckman's excitement about a potential sequel to Mr. Monk's Last Case, Monk 2 is not official and there has been no word from Peacock about a continuation.

However, the success of the Psych movies could serve as a template, since both Monk and Psych had very similar premises and trajectories on TV. Based on Tony Shalhoub's comments, it could be only a matter of time before Monk 2 materializes.
