This weekend, Netflix is welcoming season 2 of a comedy-drama series, a sci-fi comedy movie, and a Spanish Holiday movie right on time for Christmas. Streaming platforms continue to be at the top of their game even though cinemas around the world are open again and studios are releasing many of the movies that had to be delayed, and as many movies are still skipping a theatrical release, getting a simultaneous one on a streaming platform, or the window between theatrical and streaming release has been shortened, these platforms continue to be a main source of entertainment. Netflix continues to offer a home to some of those movies, while also adding new licensed and original content every week.

Last weekend, the streaming giant added the British thriller Eye in the Sky, the war movie Darkest Hour, the dystopian drama The Giver, and The Witcher. This weekend, however, there won’t be much licensed content arriving at Netflix, with the animated movie Stand by Me Doraemon and season 1 of MTV’s Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, so all eyes will be on the original titles.

1000 Miles Away From Christmas

1000 Miles From Christmas (A Mil Kilómetros de la Navidad) is a Spanish Christmas comedy movie directed by Álvaro Fernández Armero. It tells the story of Raúl (Tamar Novas), a thirty-something who has suffered all the misfortunes of his life during Christmas time, so he really hates Christmas Carols, the Three Wise Men, and everything that remotely smells of Christmas spirit. Every year he spends Christmas time on a far-away beach, but this year his boss has different plans for him: he must attend a business trip to audit a “turrones de Valverde” factory, the most typical Christmas sweet in a town that lives for and loves Christmas – and if this wasn’t enough for Raúl, he will have to share accommodation with local teacher Paula, whose dream is beating the world record of the largest real live nativity scene ever created.
