I Can't Believe Danny McBride Ended The Righteous Gemstones Without Solving One Of The Biggest Mysteries From The Pilot Episode
I just binge watched this today and after he started dating Lori in Season 4 there's an episode where they say that she died of an illness. They don't expand on it, but like you stated, we do learn how she went. She got sick and ed away.
