I would hesitate to call Simon Masrani a bad guy. Him, his helicopter pilot, and Zara are the only ones I feel bad about (to a lesser extent, the worker when the I. rex escapes, and the first soldier when they were hunting for it).
My main issue with the movie was the "safety precautions". You have a large predator on the loose, and your idea to keep people safe is... to gather them all together in an open area.

When I read the books, the only filmed adaptation was the 80s version with Kyle McLaughlin and Sting.

There are two or three "main plots", a half-dozen "sub plots", and frequently around 20 "sub sub plots" and "side plots". I suggest keeping a notebook handy, just in case, to keep track.
