Nah the main reason the show flopped was because it breaks Canon john hated his father because he never knew about the men of letters in fact john never knew about the supernatural at all until Mary died and then he dedicated his life and his sons life's to hunting the supernatural but in the show the Winchesters they ruin that by having john and Mary both knowing about the supernatural and the men of letters it just didn't make sense

Im confused it wasn't a surprise at all that it was going to be an anthology the first season ended really well and it wasn't a cliffhanger at the end of the season it was the classic goosebumps twist that I feel most people knew that was the end of the story
