Unlike his nerd friends, Sheldon came from a small town and had accelerated education, making him "on his own all his life" esp. during his grad and post grad. It is more about the people around him able to cope with his life and Amy is able to do it perfectly.

Amy and Sheldon's pairing is the perfect combination to create "that perfect feeling of celebration after a successful relationship in this world of shallow values"! They both have the disciplined mind of intelligence and strong values, having been raised traditionally in simplicity. Unlike the rest of the gangs who grew up in big city, wealth or permissive parents. It is hard for me to understand how Penny could make a big deal of Leonard kissing another girl when both of them have been jumping beds with countless people. The same that I could understand the jealousy aspect of Amy's attitude towards Will Wheaton during the fun with flags filming.

Leonard has always this "deep-seated envy on Sheldon, who despite being irritatingly annoying can easily charm all people in Leonard's circle including his mother and Penny, his sexy-heart-throb nymph lusted by all except by Sheldon who despise her character and by extension, Leonard's. No! , Leonard and Penny did not Sheldon to help him, but to make them look and feel good about themselves.

The fact that the producers and the remaining casts, writers and crew did not have the confidence to continue the show when Jim decided not to renew his contract, affirms the doubts about the show. All these " fans clamour", imo are nothing but bought media circus created to favour specific actor/s. TBBT entertained many and was paid more than enough.

Leonard was the original main character with Penny. They should have led the show but it was always Sheldon who made the show interesting. Leonard and Penny failed to bring excitement despite the many like Sarah, Stephanie, Priya, and boy friends of Penny. The only way to "reboot" this is to give the same treatment, story, media exposure and better pay for the other actors instead ineffective ones just to justify their worth.

Mary must have been a very promising student, but like her father, got married early. She must have been a "victim of sex and fun (penny's bug)". Having ordinary children would have not brought much her feelings of regrets but with Sheldon, and death of her father, who doted and directed him, her feelings of guilt on her "chosen inadequacy" to help Sheldon increased as she met other parents, like Paige's.

I couldn't agree with you more ! Young Sheldon is a prequel to explain about Sheldon's "annoying but interesting behaviour" that "railroad the main theme" of TBBT. It could easily be continued without Sheldon but I guess the remaining main characters were too busy with their own incoming projects and with their high cost, ( salaries, etc. ) producers may not have the confidence. I am with Jim Parsons on this. It's "a, lightning in a bottle", let the viewers create their own imagination, according to their preferences. As "a traditional academics" who just watched TBBT after Young Sheldon, I still see re-runs about Shamy.

Sheldon was not the "star" of TBBT when it was started, so why not ? But, Jim Parsons "made TBBT very popular" and it would be hard to watch TBBT without him. TBBT is Sheldon, as successfully played by Jim Parsons, and with Amy, it became unforgettable!

TBBT has been very successful "by accident" ! It seems the ,"cry for reboot" is from "fans of the main characters to highlight their failed story". Which is odd, they were paid well, their story though stale was given high exposures in media much more favourably. Let other talents shine, give them their own story to prove themselves. The viewers will judge .

I think, TBBT messed its own story (meant to be the love story of Penny/Leonard, as d). Jim Parsons' Sheldon (sort of Mr. Bean) proved to be more entertaining than the central characters, and though written as the "villain", he became the annoying but lovable fan favourite. Hence, the need to refocus, the story to Sheldon. To preserve the P/L arc, without making Sheldon too irritating and be irrelevant, a prequel is necessary. This eventually changed the main story to Sheldon which proved very popular.

Sheldon and Amy have a really good chemistry but upon seeing a photo of Sheldon and Joey ( Katie Holmes), it really feels very interesting. They need not appear but the photo could surely destroy any relationship. Young Sheldon touched about it.

I love SHAMY ! The only reason why I watched TBBT. And I agree with Jim Parsons, sorry Mayim but Sheldon 's story with Amy is the sweetest and very wonderful , my comfort show !

Considering the present make-up of America, where more children of immigrants are now blending and copulating, the story of young Amy is better to explore. Isn't it the reason and topics of most stand-up comedy which proves very popular ?

I don't think Sheldon is a close friend to Penny but rather Penny " imposed herself to Sheldon", otherwise, she is just a "Paige" who to Sheldon is one "waster of gifts/talents". Sheldon is more closer to the Geology student and the other black hair girl in his college days !

Sheldon has always known that Penny is not "a faithful girl friend". He even asked her once "not to hurt his friend". As for his father, the "secret vasectomy" that he did before his death that could have caused his early death is hurtful for a family and to a grieving wife to know ! The reason why Mary and Sheldon detest George.

Stuart, Denise and Bert are very strong characters and judging from their scenes in TBBT can hold a show perfectly. They made their own stories relevant with or without the main casts.
