Snape was such an accomplished occlumens that he was one of the few wizards that Voldemort couldn't read accurately. This is why he was able to be a spy for Dumbledore.

I loved Heroes first season and was so disappointed when it came back after the writers' strike. It showed such promise, but went steadily down hill starting with season 2.
