Capcom finally announced the Resident Evil 4 remake State of Play trailer showed glimpses of the familiar setting and characters, who have been remade with the same incredible visuals as the other Resident Evil remakes, as well as Resident Evil Village. The trailer also gave glimpses at some character redesigns, with Ada and Ashley appearing to sport new outfits.
Resident Evil 4 is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, which might be why it has been ported to so many systems over the years. Capcom has remastered Resident Evil 4 for modern systems and it has held up quite well, even when played on a massive TV screen. Resident Evil 4 may have been the one entry in the Resident Evil series that didn't need a remake, but it's impossible not to be excited at the thought of playing through the story again and fighting through hordes of stunningly rendered Ganado.
Sony's State of Play event on June 2, 2022 was a stacked event, including an FF16 gameplay trailer and release window, and a release date for the highly anticipated Stray. There are few game announcements that could top that of the Resident Evil 4 remake, and Capcom may have stolen the show with its opening reveal. Capcom also gave a release date for the Resident Evil 4 remake on PS5 during the show.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake Release Date
It was revealed during the June 2 Sony State of Play that the Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on PS5 on March 24, 2022. The official Resident Evil Twitter also confirmed that the game is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S. Sony has confirmed that the game won't be coming to PlayStation 4 in a post on the Resident Evil Village was promoted as next-gen only, but Capcom later changed its mind and brought the game to PS4 and Xbox One. The console shortages likely won't be completely over by next year, so PS4 and Xbox One ports could still happen for the Resident Evil 4 remake.
2023 is becoming more stacked by the day. The year will now include the likes of FF16, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, and Redfall. God of War: Ragnarok's absence from the State of Play also doesn't inspire confidence in the game launching this year. Now that Resident Evil 4 has been added to the mix, there will be even more pressure put on the wallets of gamers around the world, as few people could turn down the chance to relive Leon Kennedy's greatest adventure. 2023 will be a big year for games and Resident Evil 4 has made it even bigger.
Resident Evil 4 will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24, 2023.
