The Maiden demo for Resident Evil Village released back in January on the PlayStation 5. Although fairly short, the demo does a great job of creating a tense, sinister atmosphere while shedding some light on the background of characters like Lady Dimitrescu and the inner workings of her castle. For those wondering, here's when Resident Evil Village's Maiden demo takes place.

Resident Evil Village is the eighth mainline game in the popular horror franchise, and the Maiden demo is a great way for PS5 s to see what RE8 will have to offer. Not to be confused with the  Village demo that features final game content, the Maiden demo doesn't feature footage from the actual game. Instead, it's a somewhat standalone story that takes place outside the main narrative of Resident Evil Village.

While the Maiden demo may occur outside the main story of RE8, it allows players a closer look at Castle Dimitrescu, one of the main locations in Resident Evil Village. It also allows players an up-close look at Lady Dimitrescu, RE8's popular and already-iconic tall lady. Taking on the role of the mysterious and eponymous maiden, players must figure out a way to escape the castle.

How RE8's Maiden Demo Connects To Resident Evil Village

While exploring Castle Dimitrescu as the maiden, players learn quite a bit about the sinister inner workings of the castle and Lady Dimitrescu herself. While there's no clear date in which the Maiden demo takes place, it's obvious that the demo is set before the events of Resident Evil Village.

The Maiden demo is essentially a preface to the full game, serving as a slight introduction (and major tease) into the world and plot of Resident Evil Village. While the demo leaves just as many questions as it actually answers, players learn that the mysterious maiden in Resident Evil 8's demo has been captured by Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters, and that the Dimistrescus appear to be putting virginal blood into their famous wine. While it's unclear how exactly this will relate to Village's plot, it's a great set-up that creates a pretty insidious atmosphere.

So, even though an actual date or timestamp doesn't exist for the Maiden demo, it's pretty clear that these events take place prior to Resident Evil Village. The demo serves as a preface and introduction to several main characters like Lady Dimitrescu before Ethan Winters' arrival in the main game.
