The ending of daughter of Ethan Winters. This mutated teen could give the series a supernatural spin, as Rose is theoretically one of the more powerful characters in the Resident Evil franchise so far.

Rose's magical prowess is loosely alluded to at the end of Resident Evil Village. Rose travels to her father's burial site in order to pay respects, but is promptly called back into duty for work by an unknown organization. Her handler jokingly calls her Eveline, which turns out to be a huge mistake. She grabs him by the tie and says "I can show you things even Chris doesn't know I can do," heavily implying that she uses some serious powers for this organization she works for. If Rose were to become the next protagonist, these powers could be the basis of a Resident Evil game that takes the focus away from gunplay and into the realm of the mystical.

A superpower-based Resident Evil 9 would have to operate differently than previous titles. If Rosemary steps into her father's shoes as the next main Resident Evil character, she could entirely rely on her magical powers or use a combination of witchcraft and ballistics. Rose's powers are relatively unknown at this point in time, but a few hints and plot details show what she could be capable of.

Resident Evil 9: What Playing As Rose Could Be Like

Resident Evil Village Epilogue

There are a variety of previously displayed powers Rosemary could inherit in Resident Evil 9. If she takes after her father, she'll have massive regeneration capabilities that will make her able to survive some brutal hand injuries. There are theories that Rosemary is connected to Eveline in some way due to the events of Resident Evil 7, which, if true, could give her an array of powerful abilities.

Eveline had the ability to produce and manipulate mold. If Rose were to have this power, she would be able to create her own army of molded creatures to take into the fray. Her Resident Evil game could become a type of quasi-RTS, where Rose primarily commands armies to do her bidding.

One of Eve's more insidious powers was the ability to control the minds of others, but in the hands of a good-aligned protagonist this ability has some interesting gameplay connotations for Resident Evil 9. Enemies could be weakened and then converted to her side, where they could be used for combat and puzzle solving. Rose's powers could be explored in future Resident Evil Village DLC, but so far they are shrouded in mystery.

While there are currently no details on a potential Resident Evil 9, theories are already popping up all over the fandom. A magically powered Rose is only one potential outcome; the series could move in a more action-oriented direction with Chris as the leading man once again. The franchise received a new look when Resident Evil 7 changed the series to a first-person perspective; perhaps Resident Evil 9 could freshen it up again with the inclusion of some wizardry.
