A new trailer for Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters have had plenty of screen time dedicated to them ahead of Resident Evil Village’s release, truly little has been revealed about Mother Miranda, and what exactly her role within the game is.

Resident Evil Village is set to follow on from the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Players will be reunited with Ethan Winters once more, this time as he searches for his missing daughter, Rosemary, in a snowy Eastern European setting. Resident Evil regular Chris Redfield has also been confirmed to make an appearance in Resident Evil Village, although his allegiance is unknown. In some of the earliest trailers for Village, Chris was shown to shoot Ethan’s wife Mia, and take away her and Ethan’s infant daughter. For what purpose is still unclear but given all of the other teasers surrounding Village so far, it appears that baby Rosemary is a key part of some kind of ritualistic ceremony.

This afternoon Capcom hosted yet another Resident Evil Showcase ahead of Village’s final launch next month. As well as confirming dates for its second demo, a new trailer offered fans an even closer look at the supernatural happenings of Resident Evil 8’s titular village. There is a lot to unpack within the three minutes of footage, but one figure noticeably draws the viewers’ attention despite only being featured for the briefest of moments. While Lady Dimitrescu and her brother Heisenberg are addressing a room of “Lycans and Gentlemen,” an imposing and masked figure can be seen standing in the background. Most striking of all though, are this figure’s multiple black feathered wings, and ecclesiastical diadem.

It was recently confirmed by Resident Evil Village’s Art Director that crows were the main motif” of Mother Miranda’s design, as well as the fact that the “mother” prefix was religious rather than maternal in nature. While at this point it is only speculation, the evidence does make it incredibly likely that the figure briefly witnessed in the newest trailer is indeed that of Mother Miranda. It also matches with the recently-revealed portrait of Mother Miranda, although in this instance the many wings were not included in the picture.

Resident Evil Village has been promised to strike a balance between survival horror and action gameplay on its release. Along with todays showcase, it has also been revealed that this instalment to the Resident Evil franchise will feature a brand-new weapon upgrading system, as well as the ability for the player to hunt animals throughout RE Village’s vast open world map and use their resources to boost base stats; something that is a new addition to the series.

With less than a month to go before Resident Evil Village’s launch, fans do not have too much longer until the game’s many mysteries are answered. Until then, Resident Evil fans will be able to experience more of its offerings through the demo, although no doubt this too will also leave a lot of questions just begging to be answered as well.
