One of the worst things about falling in love with an incomplete popular series on BookTok—like Fourth Wing or ACOTAR—will often be spoiled if I don't keep up.
However, there are many fantasy romance series that are, in fact, complete, and can be started without the fear of a long wait time before the next book. This concept, more often than not, determines which series I choose to begin next. For those who find themselves equally impatient and would prefer to binge a series in one go, there are several finished fantasy romance duologies, trilogies, and series that will make the perfect addition to your TBR.
12 The War Of Lost Hearts Trilogy
Written By Carissa Broadbent
The War Of Lost Hearts trilogy by Carissa Broadbent has begun to regain traction among readers—especially those who share recommendations online—and it seems the dark fantasy romance series is finally getting the love it deserves. Beginning with Daughter of No Worlds, the first in the three-book series, the story kicks off with its main heroine, Tisaanah, as she escapes slavery in search of a better life and a way to save her people and friends.
Tisaanah puts all her hope in the Order, the most powerful magic wielders, but before they will help, she must complete an apprenticeship with Maxantarius Farlione—an ex-Order member who makes his disdain for them quite clear. It's at this point in the story where both the romantic and fantasy elements of the series truly begin to shine. And while the relationship between Tisaanah and Maxantarius is refreshing, it's the series' magic system that truly makes it stand out. The series continues with Children of Fallen Gods, and Mother of Death & Dawn.
11 Prison Healer Series
Written By Lynette Noni
The Prison Healer trilogy by Lynette Noni is one of my favorite young adult romantic fantasy novels. The story centers around Kiva Meridan as she attempts to survive the notorious death prison, Zalindov. Wrongly sentenced at the age of 10, the now 17-year-old Kiva has become the prison healer and is charged with keeping the captured rebel queen alive to compete in the Trials by Ordeal. But instead of leaving a dying woman to this fate, Kiva volunteers in her place and must endure a series of elemental challenges.
While the series is considered young adult, the categorization in no way takes away from the heartfelt romance.
The series, while full of high-stakes action, spends an incredible amount of time building trust and tension between Kiva and her main love interest. The tension built in book one of The Prison Healer series is further carried into its subsequent books, The Gilded Cage and The Blood Traitor, and constantly teases the reader as to what will transpire. Noni does an incredible job at building a fascinating magical world, and while the series is considered young adult, the categorization in no way takes away from the heartfelt romance.
10 Grishaverse Series
Written By Leigh Bardugo
The Grishaverse is a seven-book series made up of one complete trilogy, and two complete duologies. The series first began with Leigh Bardugo's popular fantasy book trilogy Shadow & Bone and was later added to with Six of Crows and King of Scars duologies existing within the same world. The Grishaverse books center around a group of people known as the Grisha—those with unique powerful abilities that help them to manipulate the fundamental elements of the world around them.

The first book in the series, Shadow & Bone, centers around Alina Starkov, a soldier in the kingdom of Ravka, who, when she begins to train her magical abilities, finds herself falling under the spell of the notorious leader known as the Darkling. While it's technically possible to read Six of Crows first, it's highly recommended to read these books in order of publication—as it will provide the best insight into the Grishaverse as a whole and better set up the narratives of the latter duologies.
9 Villains And Virtues Series
Written By A.K. Caggiano
The Villains And Virtues series, by A.K. Caggiano, begins with Throne in the Dark, a slow-burn romantic fantasy novel that follows Damien, a grumpy half-demon bloodmage who accidentally chains Amma, a bubbly and obnoxious human, to his side. While killing her would be easier, Damien decides to drag Amma along on his villainous crusade, but while he's hoping to live up to his birthright, he finds himself inspired to help the infallible woman at his side.
This series isn't hyped up nearly as much as it should be, as it takes classic romance themes, such as the grumpy sunshine trope, and perfectly blends them into a world of fantasy. This original trilogy series continues with Summoned to the Wilds and Eclipse of the Crown, and it is highly recommended if you love rom-com narratives but also enjoy a high-fantasy plotline. The series also includes two spinoff novellas, Bound to Fall and Bound and Tide.
8 Once Upon A Broken Heart Trilogy
Written By Stephanie Garber
The Once Upon A Broken Heart trilogy is the epitome of a must-read cozy fantasy romance. Once Upon A Broken Heart is about a young woman, Evangeline, whose broken heart leads her to make some risky decisions—and the most dangerous of all is with a handsome fate named Jacks. The decision to bargain with a fate is always accompanied by heavy consequences, and in making one with Jacks, she inadvertently bound herself to him—owing him three kisses to be called upon at any time.

10 Great Fantasy Books That Deliver On The Romance With Little Or No Spice
Here are a few popular fantasy books and series that will deliver a romantic plot without relying on graphic content to carry the story forward.
While the series definitely leans heavily upon its romance plot, the world-building elements are quintessential in driving the story forward. I'd easily rate this as one of my favorite romantasy novels given the easily engaging premise and totally unique magic system. I'd recommend the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy to anyone who doesn't need or like a ton of spice in their fantasy romances—as the series doesn't expand upon much more than kissing.
7 The Winternight Trilogy
Written by Katherine Arden
The Winternight Trilogy, by Katherine Arden, begins with The Bear and the Nightingale, a whimsical tale that incorporates many popular Russian folktales to build out its magical world. In a town on the edge of the Russian wilderness, where the people make sure to honor household spirits, Vasya's world comes crashing down when her new stepmother forbids them to do so—and the evil creatures begin to close in.
While the romance is a bit lighter than a typical romantasy, I still believe the series to be perfect for readers who want to experience a truly magical fantasy novel with a captivating romance storyline.
The book series' lyrical prose and fairy-tale atmosphere have enchanted several readers, including myself. On top of its near-perfect worldbuilding, the romance that unfolds between its main heroine and the winter demon throughout all three novels is full of yearning and tension. While the romance is a bit lighter than a typical romantasy, I still believe the series to be perfect for readers who want to experience a truly magical fantasy novel with a captivating romance storyline.
6 The Kingmaker Chronicles
Written By Amanda Bouchet
The Kingmaker Chronicles is a five-book series written by Amanda Bouchet, beginning with A Promise of Fire, and follows the main heroine, Catalia Fisa, as she avoids her destiny as a Kingmaker and disguises herself as a soothsayer in a traveling circus. But Cat has the magical ability to divine truth through lies, and her identity doesn't remain hidden for long once she meets Griffin, an ambitious warlord who wants to use her magic in his newly conquered realm.
A Promise of Fire and its sequels are full of spicy romance, and the chemistry between Cat and Griffin throughout the first novel is what really helps readers become invested in their love story. The series is also heavily grounded in Greek mythology, which adds another interesting element to the narrative and influences much of the plot.
5 The Bargainer Series
Written By Laura Thalassa
The Bargainer Series by Laura Thalassa is a complete four-book dark fantasy romance series. The first novel in the series, Rhapsodic, centers around Callypso Lillis (also known as Callie), a siren who has made several deals over the years with a man known as the Bargainer—who can make anything happen, but for a steep price. For seven years, Callie is left without a request for repayment, but when the Bargainer finally returns for her, it's to collect on her IOUs to save his people, the fae.
Rhapsodic is a thrilling, fast-paced, and entertaining romantasy read, and the undeniable and palpable chemistry between Callie and Des—The Bargainer—is what makes the book truly difficult to put down. The Bargainer Series leans heavily upon its romance plot, but if you're looking for a spicy fantasy romance, Rhapsodoc and its sequels might be just what you're looking for.
4 The Kinder Poison Trilogy
Written By Natalie Mae
The Kinder Poison Trilogy is a young adult fantasy romance perfect for fans of The Cruel Prince or Red Queen, and follows a teenage girl, Zahru, as she is chosen as the human sacrifice in a deadly game between three heirs. However, as Zahru begins to navigate the dangerous political landscape as a Kinder—the human sacrifice—her relationships with both the elder and younger princes, Cassian and Elian, begin to grow.

10 Shocking Plot Twists In Fantasy Books That Left Me Speechless
While every good fantasy book series includes plenty of plot twists, these were shocking and left me questioning what would happen next.
The Kinder Poison's love triangle storyline adds an element of suspense to the narrative, as Zahru has to trust her instincts and decide whether her feelings and those of the two princes are genuine or part of a larger scheme. The novel does an incredible job of throwing the readers off, and its ending plot twist is certainly unexpected. The Kinder Poison is followed by The Cruelest Mercy and The Sweetest Betrayal.
3 Where Oceans Burn Duology
Written By Casey L. Bond
Casey L. Bonds' Where Oceans Burn duology doesn't receive nearly as much hype as it should among readers of fantasy romance, and that might be just because it is lesser known than a few other popular romantasy books. However, this series is such a great addition to the genre, and the first book in the series, Where Oceans Burn, kicks off as a sky warrior named Elira is forced to confront a sea guardian named Crest when she accidentally falls from the sky.
There has been a long-standing conflict between the people of the sky and the sea, and throughout the novel both Elira and Crest attempt to find peace and end the war between their peoples. However, as they continue to work together, their relationship becomes more and more complex, and the themes of forbidden love, betrayal, and the search for the truth add a thrilling element to the narrative. The series continues with Where Skies Fall.
