Sister Wives season 18 Kody and his adult children spoke about their relationships, which have deteriorated over the last several years. While many of his children were concerned with the fact that Kody had spent years forming bonds with his younger kids and had primarily left them out of his life, Kody felt that he wasn’t being prioritized over others. Though Kody seems to want a relationship with his kids, he’s not pushing to make it happen.
After Robyn first entered into the Brown family in 2010, things became increasingly difficult for Kody and the rest of his wives. As he tried to bring Robyn closer to Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown, the women all had to make sacrifices as they welcomed her into the family. Though Kody expected his wives to be okay with the sacrifice, he didn’t think of his children, who were also experiencing far less from their father. After Kody legally married Robyn and adopted her kids, things changed entirely for the family and haven’t improved.

Robyn Brown Didn't Want Kody Brown To See His Older Sons At Christmas
She’s Been Defensive About His Kids’ Stance On Her
After the COVID-19 pandemic changed things for the Brown family, Kody’s relationship with his kids was strained. As Kody and Robyn tried to take the pandemic’s regulations incredibly seriously for the family, they imposed rules that were vastly stricter than the CDC’s guidelines. With such a large family, they wanted to be sure that everyone was safe and able to gather, even Kody’s older kids who weren’t quarantining with the rest of the family. Though the guidelines seemed logical to the pair, Kody and Robyn's rules were over the top and his older children found it tough to adhere to them, deciding to ignore their father’s wishes.
After the pandemic’s first wave subsided Kody and Robyn were more relaxed, but Kody still held a grudge against several of his children for disobeying the guidelines and ignoring him. Kody was particularly tough on Gabe Brown and Garrison Brown, and when they spoke up about their issues with him and Robyn while making plans for Christmas, she shut down. She made it clear that the boys weren’t welcome, but then tried to make it seem like they didn’t want to see her or their father. In attempting to blame things on Gabe and Garrison, Robyn revealed she didn’t actually want Kody to mend things with his children.
Maddie Brush Said Robyn Brown Wouldn't Let Her Pick Out A Church
Kody’s Daughter Was Hurt By Robyn’s Reign
Early on in the run of Sister Wives, Robyn was trying to foster a new sense of identity in their church with many of Kody’s older children. After moving around, the family felt disrupted in their routines and were ultimately having a difficult time fitting into a new congregation. Maddie Brush, Kody’s daughter with Janelle, voiced her opinion about not liking the church they were attending as a family, but Robyn shut her down quickly and clarified she wasn’t open the opinions of someone so young. When Maddie tried to advocate for herself, sharing that Robyn had told them they could choose the church they attended, Robyn rebuffed her quickly.
Rather than giving Maddie, or any of Kody’s other older kids, the opportunity to speak up about their preferences, Robyn asserted herself to make it clear she was the adult in the conversation. Maddie, who no longer has a relationship with Kody, was hurt after feeling that she would have a choice on where she would worship. Neither Janelle, who had her own issues with Robyn, nor Kody spoke up for Maddie at a time when she needed an adult to advocate for her the most. While Robyn could’ve tried to hear Maddie out and let her have her own opinions, she pushed her beliefs on her step-daughter instead.
Gwendlyn Brown Said Robyn Brown Doesn't Trust Kody's Kids By Other Moms
Christine’s Daughter Was Hurt By Robyn’s Favoritism
Christine’s daughter, Gwendlyn Brown, hasn’t had a good relationship with Robyn in years. Since she’s become more publicly online and felt comfortable critiquing her family’s behavior, she’s been open about her real feelings on Robyn. Despite the fact that Gwendlyn and Robyn’s younger children have had relationships in the past, she shared that Robyn doesn’t trust her children around the older Brown kids. Citing an example with Robyn and Kody’s young son Solomon, she explained that Robyn wasn’t comfortable leaving her child alone with Gwendlyn. While Robyn may simply be overprotective, leaving her child alone with a sibling shouldn’t be an issue, and led Gwendlyn to question their relationship.
Gwendlyn shared that she feels Robyn doesn’t trust her children with kids who aren’t her own, meaning that 13 of Kody’s 18 children wouldn’t be allowed to be alone with any of Robyn’s kids. While this is only a feeling Gwendlyn had about her father’s wife, it’s clear that it impacted her relationship with Robyn, as she believes her intuition about Robyn’s behavior is correct. Gwendlyn explained that though Robyn has always expressed favoritism toward her own children, knowing that she didn’t even trust her or her siblings was hurtful. Robyn also likely took a toll on Kody’s feelings, as Robyn has major sway when it comes to Kody’s emotions.
Even Robyn Brown's Daughters Breanna & Aurora Feud With Other Brown Daughters
Robyn Has Involved Her Older Daughters In The Feud
While Kody has been having disagreements with his older kids for years, things became more heated when the Brown family tried to settle on plans for Christmas in 2022. The older kids were set on doing a gift exchange, which had been their annual tradition, but when Robyn tried to insert herself into the planning things got difficult. The entire gift exchange was called off and the older kids didn’t end up attending Christmas at Robyn and Kody’s. While Kody’s issues with his sons deepened due to their treatment of Robyn after the incident, Robyn’s older kids felt torn between being loyal to their mother and speaking to their siblings.
While Robyn and Kody could’ve told their daughters Breanna and Aurora to speak to their siblings as normal and leave the disagreement to them, they chose to exacerbate things further. Breanna and Aurora shared during Sister Wives season 18 that they felt like they couldn’t pick anyone over their parents, even their own siblings. While Robyn has been pushing her emotions onto others and driving a wedge between Kody and his children from his other marriages, she’s been doing the best she can to bring Kody closer to the children she shares with him, instead.
