Saturday Night Live season 50 star, Ego Dwodim thought she was going to be fired while playing Miss Eggy. The character appears in Weekend Update as Nwodim's stand-up persona, as she claims to be talking about only the food at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. However, Ego's sketch goes to another level as she raises her microphone to the audience, and they curse, leaving Ego and the Update anchors in shock and laughter.

Dwodim describes her surprise when the audience cursed as she held the microphone up to them while doing her bit as Miss Eggy in a new interview with Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, but also with the audience as she was poking fun at herself and improvising with the audience . Read Dwodim's quote below:

'The audience never says anything on SNL. We didn’t expect them to say anything. They’re just supposed to laugh or not laugh, but we didn’t expect them to say anything. But I think because I was in front of the desk and I was pacing, and I was doing something perhaps they hadn’t seen before, they’re like, ‘Oh, we’re in this, we’re all having a time together. We were doing a dance together, and then they did a move I didn’t expect,” she said. 'They really threw me for a loop. But it was so exciting, because I love improv, and so getting to play with them was so fun.'”

What Dwodim's Comments Mean For Miss Eggy Sketch's Future

Dwodim Didn't Expect The Audience To Verbally React To Her Skit

Dwodim's comments on her Miss Eggy sketch and her shock at the audience's reaction show that while she has become a veteran of SNL, the show can still surprise castmates like herself. Dwodim explains how doing live choreography and improv with the audience was a fun and rewarding challenge for her because she was able to engage the crowd on her own and command the stage. Ultimately, Dwodim's role as Miss Eggy also bears a resemblance to another funny sketch she did in SNL season 50 called "Lisa from Temecula."

While it's unclear which cast are returning for SNL season 51, Dwodim has become one of the show's funniest comedians with her charisma and energetic personality. Dwodim's Miss Eggy sketch is an example of the show's effective ability to try new elements for its cast, while also serving as a reminder that anything can happen on a live show. Sometimes, an audience's reaction, like cursing during a sketch, is unexpected, especially when Ego says that the audience doesn't usually react verbally to a skit. Despite this, Dwodim may consider doing more improv with spectators in the show's future.
