Coraline is a true classic. The fact that it is a stop-motion claymation film is incredible to me because of how visually appealing it looks. The scene of Coraline going through the tunnel astounded me as a child and still impresses me today. Aside from being visually stunning, the movie itself has a compelling plot and interesting characters. It's one I enjoyed as a kid and still enjoy today as an adult.

Much like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline's stop-motion animation does wonders to create a beautifully haunting world that's made even more entertaining thanks to the engaging arc of its titular hero and the monstrous personalities of the beings she's forced to deal with. It's one of the best examples of a cult film in recent memory, and 15 years later, there's still plenty worth praising about it.

The first of Laika's magical animated catalog, Coraline is a great horror film for young viewers. It speaks to the things that scare them - having no control over their surroundings, not being loved by their parents, and being seen as a weird outcast. There are some scary moments here for adults, too, especially concerning giving oneself button eyes. Required to be yearly Halloween viewing.

Coraline is the best Laika film. Period. And one of Selick's best, and that is saying a lot given how iconic is. I did not get to see the remaster, but I wish I had
