  • Eighth Grade is a powerful coming-of-age story that resonates deeply. It depicts the awkward and painful parts of transitioning from adolescence into teenagehood. Unlike most coming-of-age stories, the main character actually feels and acts like a teenager, and that's because of Elsie Fisher. They are an incredible actor who was only 13 when auditioning to play Kayla in Eighth Grade. I'm happy to see that they've continued to act since this movie.

  • Bo Burnham really captures the complete claustrophobia of the online era in a great way. Social media may seem to increase connection, but really, it pigeonholes the main characters into trying to fit a given mold. That theme is just beautifully realized in Eighth Grade.

Eighth Grade Review: A Masterpiece of Middle-School Horror
9/10

Eighth Grade masterfully captures the emotional horror of being a Generation Z middle-schooler, yet tells a universally relatable coming of age story.
