Xbox boss Phil Spencer has compared both studio Playground Games, something that Spencer believes fans should have confidence in.

One thing that has emerged recently is that the lead writer who worked on the critically acclaimed Control has left Remedy Entertainment to up with Playground Games in the UK. Anna Megill has also previously worked at developers including Ubisoft and Square Enix and is a 16-year veteran of the industry. The fact that she is ing the Fable team will excite fans giving how well-received Control's story was by players and critics alike.

Speaking during an interview with IGN's Unlocked podcast, Xbox head Phil Spencer has compared Fable 4 with both The Elder Scrolls 6 and Avowed. The executive revealed that Avowed has been seen as a sort of Skyrim-killer by some gamers but that he doesn't personally see the two as competing directly. He then went on to confirm that Fable 4 will be a very different experience from both of those traditional fantasy RPGs. Spencer said that "Fable’s never been that" and that "always been a little more light-hearted and a little more British, I think I could say, and I think Playground will keep it there." Later on, Spencer also suggested that the new Fable game will be out before The Elder Scrolls 6, which he itted "is further out" in of a release date.

The fact that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still a long way off from launching is not a huge surprise. Earlier this year, Bethesda studio director and executive producer Todd Howard revealed that TES6 is in the design phase of production. This suggests that programming and other significant parts of development have yet to begin, meaning that it could be several years before the next installment in the popular series is released.

Long-time fans of the Fable series will likely take heart from Spencer's comments, as it seems that Playground Games is not attempting to change the style and tone of the franchise. With Xbox Game Studios having several high-profile RPG releases, it makes sense that each of them will offer something different to players in an attempt to help them stand out.
