Warning! This article contains spoilers for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 1 through 5
In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker is just getting to grips with his life as a superhero, which means he needs to find the right suit for the job. YFNSM is not a typical Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project, as the animated series is set within the wider Marvel Animation pantheon of shows. And as such, the show follows a unique and separate version of Peter Parker that is distinct from Tom Holland, and in many ways, much closer to the comic book version of the hero.
As his alter-ego, Spider-Man, Parker is slowly learning how to handle his brand-new powers, and as if that wasn't a big enough challenge on its own, he needs to find a way to protect his identity, and still operate as a superhero. And thanks to the generous of Norman Osborn, Peter is given the opportunity to upgrade his suit in some major ways. However, not all of these experimental suits work for Spider-Man, and it takes time before Parker finds the right suit to take with him on his superhero journey.
5 Homemade Spider-Man Suit
First Spider-Man Suit
Prior to Norman Osborn discovering Parker's secret, Parker is on his own. In YFNSM, the show reveals that Peter used a nearly new sewing machine to cobble his suit together, and while it's effective, with some cool tricks of its own, the homemade suit of Spider-Man is little more than a football jersey with a spider on it, some pressured cylinders to his webbing, and of course, Parker struggled to keep up with his busy teenage life.

What did you think about the newest episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 3, 4, & 5 were released today. Setting up Peter Parker's new partnership with Norman Osborn and a brand-new costume, I thought this new batch of episodes was really good. Not only did I love the Civil War connections, but I also found myself getting really invested in the B-story with Lonnie Lincoln as well.
However, as Peter is seen struggling to repel a pair of tech-enhanced goons, it becomes painfully obvious that he could use some from a "dude at the desk." It is this that leads to Peter Parker ditching the homemade suit, which already has clever built-in features like a police radio scanner, and beginning to experiment with a wide variety of other suits. And interestingly, these are all inspired by a 1998 series of comics which appeared in various comics, titled Spider-Man: Identity Crisis.
4 The Prodigy Suit Gives Major Thor Vibes
Thor-Inspired Spider-Man
When Peter first lays eyes on some of Norman's design options, he immediately sees a yellow suit, with a red cape, which resembles the Asgardian god of Thunder in some ways. In the comics, this suit is one of four alter-egos Spider-Man adopts to take the heat off of Spider-Man, who was falsely accused of murder by Norman Osborn. In YFNSM, Norman is currently trying to help Peter, which explains why those suits that were initially created by Hobie Brown in the comics, are designed and built by Oscorp in YFNSM.
When Peter does eventually return to being Peter Parker, it is the Prodigy persona who welcomes him back, and thus grants him the favor of the city.
However, Prodigy in the comics is notably one of the personas that the public embraces wholeheartedly. When Peter does eventually return to being Peter Parker, it is the Prodigy persona who welcomes him back, and thus grants him the favor of the city. However, if there is anything unique that Spidey learned during his time in this suit, it was the confirmation that Edna Mode of The Incredibles was right all along when she told the retired heroes to ensure no one would choose to wear capes.
3 The Hornet Appears To Have A Similarly Tech-Enhanced Suit To Wasp
Wasp-Inspired Suit
Next, Peter Parker puts on a purple and black high-tech suit that features wings. In addition, the suit also has a large dragonfly symbol in the middle, which makes this hero seem entirely unique. But by far the biggest departure is the fact that, instead of web-swinging, the suit's flight system makes this hero seem nothing like Spider-Man. That is a great thing for paying homage to the comic arc, but less so when it comes to the story where Peter wants to simply upgrade his Spider-suit, not become a whole different hero.

Marvel Doubles Down On A Controversial Change The MCU Made To Spider-Man In No Way Home
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man changed one of the most important events in Peter Parker's evolution as Spider-Man, four years after the MCU.
However, it is an interesting What If...? proposal. Spider-Man was bitten by a Spider before turning into an enhanced human with the power to swing from webs, sights at high speed, and become a superhero. And the title is extremely meaningful, both because Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider, and because some of his abilities resemble a spider. The Hornet suit did more to synthetically grant Peter powers, but it simultaneously hindered the genuine gifts that Peter had, making this suit entirely impractical for the hero.
2 Dusk Is Only Good For Scaring Kids In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Scary Spider-Man Look
After trying the Hornet suit, Peter decides to use a more simple design that is paired back to a simple all-black bodysuit with no obvious symbols. This suit incorporates large sharp claws, and flying squirrel-type wings that let Peter glide through the city. And despite Peter introducing himself as Spider-Man, people, and children in particular, are too afraid to let this mysterious vigilante help them. As such, Peter gives up on yet another design, and feels even more discouraged that they won't be able to create something that is more fitting.
This final identity was a challenge to pull off, due to Parker having already reinvented himself as multiple different heroes.
Dusk is one of the four alternate superhero identities Peter Parker takes on to do his superhero work in secrecy. However, this is the third and final suit that is featured in YFNSM, as they opted not to include Ricochet. This final identity was a challenge to pull off, due to Parker having already reinvented himself as multiple different heroes. However, it was as Ricochet that Parker used his incredible agility to quickly switch between costumes, fighting of a group of thugs as all four fake personas, dispelling rumors that he was in fact the same person.
1 Peter Settles On A More Classic Spider-Man Look... In Brand New Colors
Classic Suit Evolution
Ultimately, Peter wants a suit that feels more like Spider-Man, as he has come to be known by the community. Instead of hiding his identity, Peter wanted to lean into this persona, and create goodwill with the citizens of Queens. So, when Norman unveils a costume that has a spider symbol and looks like a sharper, more refined version of his original homemade suit, Peter is elated. However, it remains different to the usual red and blue Spider-Man suit from most shows.
There is a striking similarity to the Anti-Venom suit seen in Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation. Yet, the suit is not alive, and it is white and dark navy blue instead of white and black. This suit is actually a slightly altered version of the Future Foundation suit that Peter Parker wears in the comics after Johnny Storm dies. This suit has been altered to fit this unique story and for now, it appears to be Peter's new go-to suit, though it is likely that the red and blue design will be introduced in coming episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
