A vastly underrated piece of work and a fine performance by Jerry Lewis.

First Blood deals with the Vietnam veteran's plight. Anyone who experienced war first hand under went some mental trauma. For those returning from the horrors of war also is force with to deal with the stuff those who protested the war dump on them. John Rambo who's world is disapearing decides to look in on a former member of his team. He learns his friend has died from cancer caused by the chemicle "Agent Orange". Distraught he decides to have a meal at a local diner.

The Sheriff takes exception and as a favour he take Rambo to the city limits with the advice of taking a bath. Instead of keep on going Rambo decides to go back to town to get something to eat prompting the sheriff to arrest him. While going through processing Rambo is subjected to rough treatment tus triggers flashbacks to his time as a P.O.W. so his instincts kick in causing havoc not seen in this small community. Some theatrics and an ending different from the novel.
