So think of it this way. Going by Bloodlines, we can more than likely assume that the only folks who were meant to die already were the folks who had premonitions...so literally all the protaganists from the movies.
Everyone that was saved was collateral damage already, because they were in Death's path to get the intended actual target. Since the protaganist saved them, they were added to the list as priorities as well because they weren't supposed to survival that initial death sweep.
Molly in this movie survived, but she stayed with the guy who was still on the hit list. Because of that, she became collateral damage just like everyone else who stayed on the plane despite Alex's protests.
Had she stayed away, she could have been safe and lived a full life. The pregnant lady in FD2 for example was 100% safe because she maintained 0 with the cast, and she had survived the initial crash. We never hear that she suddenly died at any point...and she wasn't a surprise twist death at the end, so we can assume she lived a happy life with her new child.
Like others have said, this article could have been fine without the bits about DOOM. It isn't your vibe, cool. This cozy game is, cool. But this article could have just been a "here's an indie game I recommend." Without being like "this major release isn't my thing, so here's why you should ignore it and go for this unrelated indie game!"
Especially since it's such a baffling comparison. "Hey guys, I hear you're excited for the next Elder Scrolls game. I'm not a fan of ES myself, so you should totally forget about it and instead play Fashion Design Simulator because it's an indie game!"
I mean, I'm hoping that with the 1-3 and 4-6 remaster collections being out, that it means the Legends/Anniversary/Underworld trilogy + Underworld's DLC will be next on the docket.
Since Anniversary is still very much its own game compared to 1, having changed a few things from the original title.
I mean, even as someone who has owned the game since launch, Dreamlight is a precious commodity when they introduce new realms, floating islands beyond the first require like 15K each, and building any kind of storage chest or other certain commodities require at least 250+ dreamlight.
Unless Dreamlight Valley is your only game that you've been playing feverishly, or have been holding back on unlocking areas...you're usually not going to have an excessive amount.
If anything...the most likely thing you'll have in excess is Mist from the Rift in Time expansion...since it's ridiculously easy to build up your Mist count just from constantly using the Hourglass everywhere.
I mean, consider Wicked is an extended adaption of the play that has been including bits from the book in its expansion as well, Liir could still pop up in it. Likewise, if it ends where the play does with Elphaba and Fiyero running away together, Son of a Witch can still be a time jumped entry where they had him very shortly after the events of the movie.
That being said, Son of a Witch and Lion Among Men were kinda boring books, and would be difficult to make into interesting and engaging movies...especially since the main draw aka Elphaba is absent from the rest of the series.
"Long awaited" I mean, I enjoy Rey as a character, but unless these movies are tossing out the last trilogy, then people have been more waiting for Disney to just stop and move on to something else.
The last trilogy had potential, and personally I was even more invested when The Last Jedi came out, since it was something different by making Rey just a random nobody versus tying her into an existing family...and likewise hinting at other force sensitive kids.
Unfortunately TLJ was seen as awful particularly because it dragged at parts like the whole pointless Casino bits...and when they unswapped directors for TRoS, it was a mess since the story was completely altered again and made TLJ a completely pointless entry, spoiled the overarching baddie of it, and went the stupid predictable routes with Rey with hamfisted messages that it essentially walked back on right at the very end.
So again, unless the next trilogies are correcting or ignoring that last debacle trilogy...then it's not something a bunch of folks have been waiting for/asking for.
Ehhh, Once Upon a Time floundered quite a bit before Season 4...it's just easy to pick on the Frozen arc because FrOzEn iSn'T a ClAsSiC fAiRyTaLe.
Season 2 part 1 was excellent, and the Greg/Tamara "LoL sCiEnCe>MaGiC!" Episodes were hot garbage...with the only payoff being that they both die in the excellent Peter Pan arc of Season 3.
And then once again the Wicked Witch arc was heavily divisive among fans and seen as a really underwhelming back end to that S3 first half.
Season 4 P1 was actually an excellent switch, and despite the fact that it started with a more current property...it used it to utilize the original property it was based on (IE the Snow Queen) in a completely unique way. Despite not being a fan of Frozen and finding it severely overhyped, it ended up being my 2nd favorite Season starter half (the other being the Peter Pan arc).
If you want to blame anything for the show's downfall in ideas...blame the Queens of Darkness second half of Season 4...which was incredibly underwhelming outside of the wonderful Cruella episode. Blame the incredibly hyped Season 5 teaser showing an absolutely evil and loving it Dark One Emma...followed by the incredibly underwhelming Camelot arc where we got a completely different "Dark" Swan than what was teased. Heck, Blame the incredibly dull Underworld arc...or especially the S5 finale where the big cliffhanger after dealing with Hades was having to deal with...Jeckyll and bringing back the stupid ScIeNcE iS sTrOnGeR tHaN mAgIc nonsense.
You can pick at a lot of problem spots for OUaT...but the Frozen Arc really wasn't one of em.
While I'm bummed that Melee was forgotten (and most likely won't be added...given that the original STILL isn't on the N64 classics), I'm more bummed that games like Skies of Arcadia Legends, Evolution Worlds, I-Ninja, Spirits and Spells, and possibly even Eternal Darkness will most likely get overlooked and never added to the library (the last one mainly because its biggest 4th wall scare mechanics don't really translate to a current day TV, so why add it to the emulator list?).
Actually, I'd argue the closest we've had was Cinderella. Story was virtually the same with some added beats to give her and the prince some chemistry and give the stepmother more motivation (though ittedly calculated fun evil cartoon Tremaine was better than tragic fragile spiteful live action Tremaine)...but it was virtually the same movie. Heck, had they not changed Cinderella's character in questionable ways to make her "strong" (can leave anytime she wants, doesn't because she wants to love it like her dad does...but then leaves at the end to live at the castle. Also, was totally resigned to being locked in her room and just singing...was only discovered due to essentially dumb luck), in all honesty it could have been the best live action adaption (though Ever After is still the actual best, and we got an enjoyably evil Angelica Huston Stepmother).
Disney's remakes have been flailing because they stopped allowing their female leads to have flaws. Snow White doesn't have her naive unfaltering trust in even the most questionable strangers. Cinderella doesn't get frustrated, and only gets her happily ever after because her animal friends can apparently open a window. Mulan is already a perfect warrior woman, rather than being allowed to be clumsy and quirky.
The only Princess that was actually improved was Jasmine...but that's because it's Aladdin's movie, and Jasmine was similar in animation as well since she wasn't the focal character going through the important arcs...Aladdin was (and only the male characters in the remakes have been allowed to have flaws).
Disney needs to that balance matters. What made Ever After such a great live action adaption was that Danielle was both flawed but also a strong female type. She was still a good and kind person who had emotional outbursts the more it became apparent that her stepmother thought nothing of her. She could take care of and defend herself, but she still made occasionally devestating mistakes because her on the fly decisions had consequences. She was far from a perfect character, and that made her whole journey engaging and interesting because we got to watch her grow and improve versus being already perfect...and by the end when she has her satisfying revenge against her wicked Stepmother and sister, we're smirking like the Prince because it was a well deserved, but still very in character moment.
Overall...main characters are only as interesting as their arcs are believable...and that's where the animated versions (and some non-Disney adaptions) have shined and why the Disney live action counterparts feel hollow...especially compared to the male leads. Because the female leads can't really have a believable arc when they're presented as virtually flawless at the start.
I like Epona, but she wasn't the worst feature to be locked behind an amiibo.
Iirc, that honor belonged to a bonus dungeon in Twilight Princess Wii U that could only be unlocked by using the Wolf Link Amiibo (granted it came with the deluxe version of the game, but not the standard). I'm really hoping that if the remaster rumors prove true and we get TP for Switch/Switch 2 that it includes the bonus dungeon without the amiibo requirement.

...that comment alone doesn't sound like as much a reflective about face so much as telling people to give it a rest and move on (and he's correct). He's moved on to bigger and better things...he doesn't need to continue to criticize a franchise which has since been long dead and buried. But that doesn't mean he's reflecting and having better feelings or "shifting his perspective" about it. It just means people need to stop caring so much since it's well beyond over with.
SRMember you were correct until you said Dreamcast.
They were all over in Station Square and iirc parts of the Mystic Ruin in SA1. G.U.N was operated by them (which we see who they look like in Shadow the Hedgehog), Maria was an obvious one, and there was an established president that we saw a closeup of (and again in Shadow the Hedgehog) as well as people responding to Robotnik's threat in SA2.
They absolutely aren't needed, as games before and even after have shown that the franchise can be fine with Robotnik being the only human around. But they were definitely on the DC for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (the latter which Sonic 3 borrowed heavily from).
For Jerome/Jeremiah, that wasn't the show's fault...as even an old article by this website even confirmed:
/gotham-jerome-jeremiah-joker-name/
They were barred from using the name or using any of his defining characteristics (such as the hair) because the execs said no, we can't confuse the audience because of the movies that we have him in.
So that's a moot point. Gotham was never going to answer that question in show because it was already answered out of show. They were the Joker in everything but look and name because they weren't allowed to use either.
Free to play MMOs such as DC Universe or Dungeons and Dragons Online have models to get you to pay real money for better items...though both can be enjoyed without spending a dime (heck D&D Online gives you ways to earn its features purely in game).
The P2P Monthly subscription games are the actual worst with it, not only still keeping that same above model ON TOP of that required monthly subscription fee (mainly looking at you WoW and FFXIV), but they also tend to throw out expansion after expansion after expansion for another price so that you you'll be begging for more. Thought WoW was done? Joke's on you, another expansion to fork money out for to keep that addiction going.
And again, this is on top of the fact that you had/have to buy the game, and then pay a monthly fee to be allowed to keep playing it (except in the case of ESO, since the subscription is optional).
At least those F2P MMOs and Gacha games can be 100% enjoyable without spending a penny.
100% agree on MM because of the time limit even when it's slowed down. For me I'd switch TP with Skyward Sword purely because the motion controls weren't perfect, so it made some bits in the dungeons extra annoying.
But the Water Temple was pretty on the bottom of the list.
This was about the extent of the difficulty for me, accidentally raising the water level too high like once or twice and backtracking...but it still took only at most an hour or 2, whereas my friend at the time insisted it took him about a week because of how difficult it was.
I never understood why folks found the water temple difficult. Maybe it's just me, but I found probably the Shadow or Fire temples to be more difficult the first time around...whereas the water temple was about the same difficulty as the forest temple for me (meaning it had its moments, but I never found it super challenging).
